    This is 2nd gen sc thread. Probably won’t get much interest. If advise is what you need, you can always get the stock parts and with tuning software revert to stock tune.

    TRD Supercharged / OTT Tuned
    Do you guys do the old hotrod trick and stack a few washers on the hood hinges to "raise" the long edge of the hood (near windshield) to vent it a little better?

    And cutout large holes in the wheel well splash guards to vent. Malleable screen material can be used for reinforcement.

    for sure.. I agree.. I dont think the minimal jump would improve the heat issue more than impacting cruising speeds even more so. I'm definitely going to upgrade Rad and Trans cooler with the 1, hopefully 2 pusher fans.

    On long tube / cat delete headers you can get away with the wrap I suppose. Still not as good as the factory double walled pipes, and it will cause the headers to rot out much sooner, especially if you don’t live in a super arid climate.
    I would try hood louvers over the headers first

    I think I'll try spacing the hood at the hinges some too.. never tried it.. but makes sense and is simple enough to try.

    yah same here. this truck is not going 150mph and my issues are usually at low speed or stand still but also do not want to make it counterproductive.

    I recently cleaned mine out and it did have a ton of direct in it but not sure how much it helped. I also added the trans cooler at the same time so I would assume it was a bit of both. def had a done of dirt in it.

    Aesthetically, I agree, but I lean toward disagree from a functional perspective. I base the former on nothing more than my personal preference. I base the latter on where the factory heat extractors are located on my '13 GT500 and '19 Z06, both of which have rather large force induction "furnaces" under their hoods. Note the forward placements, outlined in red, behind their multiple radiators, but in front of their engines...

    Yah partially was debating if louvers in the middle made more sense behind the radiator like that. All of the Tacoma hoods I have see all put them on the side but also were not S/C'd.

    When those cars are designed around air going in through the front, across the radiator, and then out the front/forward loungers, it makes sense. Looking into my engine bay, I’m not sure that they would help evacuate air as much as putting them above the headers as others have been mentioning.

    Think about it, the radiator is what, 200-220 F, whereas exhaust gasses are like 4x that? Seems like at low speeds, letting the exhaust heat out easier would help the most.

    Yah I am leaning towards right in the middle maybe a bit higher as some folks suggested. I cant recall where I saw it but if they are positioned wrong it can keep the hot air and rather than out but at standstill it prob does not matter. I generally see them on tacomas be right above the headers.

    This is why I want to try spacing the hood first.. farthest back, highest point, and above/behind the headers to allow it to hopefully pull all that hot air out.

    Extension cord to the bed inverter, box fan duct taped to the grille :D That will exaggerate if it will help with some pushers :D

    I can't leave anything well enough alone
    The location of the louvres is dependent on whether you are trying to make a low pressure zone after the radiator to help allow more air through the radiator at speed, or if you are trying to evacuate a hot engine bay at low speeds. A forward mounted relief is trying to get the radiator air out of the engine bay, so that less air has to go through the trans tunnel at speed, which at 100+, can be too much to flow down and out the engine bay... and not to mention air going down under a track car is very harmful for downforce and aerodynamics. For our trucks, the latter, rear hood location gets my vote every time - let the engine bay heat escape when you are in the drive through or on a trail... and the more air you can pass out the engine bay and downward/rearward at speed, the more you will cool the exhaust and trans. No science behind these opinions though, just my $.02

    I think gapping the hood at the hinges and having some pusher fans will help my low speed/idle issues.. and the HD Trans cooler and upgraded Rad will hopefully help with overall cooling performance, especially at speed.
