TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I would go a 2.5 Y, but while you are in there you may want to consider opening everything up and going dual exhaust. So forget running a Y pipe to a Y, run a X (or an H if you're feeling really ballsy, lol) and then continue to dual it out all the way to the back.

With the amount of power you and the majority of us make, there is no point in going 3" exhaust just to solve a bottleneck issue. You open it all the way up and go 2.5 all the way from the primaries onto the rear piping and you'll have just opened up so much more breathability and room to grow in power for the supercharger.

 

Been thinking of going back to 2.5" from the Y merge back and trying a new muffler as well.

 

I've always read that a dual exhaust would hurt my low end. You're saying keep it a y pipe but spilt at the y into and h or x making it a dual exit? Or forgo the y pipe all together and true duals from the headers

 

I'm suggesting true duals that join up into an X OR an H pipe of your choice and then splits up again into duals which then run off their own independent mufflers (or single muffler if you're feeling adventurous).

 

Nice MPI lid. The one I run is a pre-production version from a Corvette Forum member who makes them for MPI. They provide a little more volume underneath and increased S/C whine, vs OEM lids.

 

The design is really nice and I do like the idea behind it but the fit and finish is pretty subpar considering the price. The powdercoat paint is flaking off where the bolts go on and at no point do they provide in any instructions (that they also don't provide) that the 4 center holes on the lid can be run without their respective sleeves. Their customer service is also pretty trash as well, questioning your mechanical abilities without directly outright calling you the word "incompetent."

Truthfully, if it wasn't for the design and the fact that I already have it on the car I would have done away with the whole thing a while ago.

I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't experience fit, finish, or service issues with mine, but I dealt only with the CF member before he connected with MPI. I opted for an anodized finish that, disappointingly, faded. I had it powder coated locally by the same place that did my wheels, and have had no additional issues.

 

Yeah, unfortunately because I didn't want to deal with the fade issues that anodization is so notorious of, I opted for powdercoat. Unfortunately for me, I got the cheap wipe and spray finish and while the paint itself looks beautiful, it ultimately means nothing because it chips even if you just sneeze on it. I continue to find tiny BS chips in my engine bay, so needless to say, I think the ultimate solution here is to just strip it entirely and just use standard paint and finish it off by blasting 2K polyurethane clear. That stuff sprays so evenly and come out so beautifully, even using just a rattle can. Dang.

 

She's all done my brothers. I fired her up yesterday and got everything all the levels correct and done up top and finished final assembly on the bottom of the car today. Sounds good, runs good, and runs STRONG already after flashing in my initial revisions to the prior tune file. The great part about it all is that we did such a clean job on the build that if you were to peek into the engine bay you wouldn't be able to tell that a full build was done on it either.

I am! It’s going to be an intake/heads/cam +FBO car soon, not to mention the suspension mods planned.

I’m on the dyno this Friday for 6 hours, lots of client vehicles to do, but I’ll try and get the baseline done on the car before I touch it.

I wish you were Gen V LT because damn it man I'm scratching my head over here trying to figure out how to dial in SOI on the setup. Freaking DI man.

I wanted to do a PD cam, but after mulling it over I decided against it because of the fact I live where I do and this setup is a happy medium where it's equal to or slightly better than stock by running LT5 over LT4 cam. It has a 32% fuel lobe and is made for DOD delete. Good for if I ever need to revert to the stock tune flash file where it'll get me by for inspections and then I can reflash the juicy file.

This is a great thread about Magnuson superchargers but I don't see one tune file people can share to make their own tune ?
I am looking for a TRD supercharger file does anyone have it to share ? I want to do my own thing and use it as a baseline. I have HP Tuners and need a jumpstart in the right direction. It's an off-road truck
