Is their a place to tap into another sensor without going into the fuel line? And I'm guessing the most important gauges to get are for afr and boost correct?

There's no need to tap into fuel line. Lol. Just the power source for it would be the easiest.

AFR and boost are the most important, yes.

He’s talking about the fuel pump fuse for power source. I’ve used these for said application.

No I'm talking about a tap into the fuel pump relay under the underhood fuse box. The leg which receives power as soon as the engine starts cranking and running.

Gotcha... so I tap into the fuel pump fuse. And as far as welding in the o2 bung, where should I weld that in? And should I wait until after I have to smog again or is it safe?

No not the fuel pump fuse! The relay is what you want to reiterate the second time, not the fuse.

You'll be safe to weld the bung and run the sensor even if you have smog. I have had a bung and sensor in for years and have had to smog it tons of times since and have passed every time.

Roger haha, bear with me lol. As far as where to weld in the bung, I'm about to replace the exhaust system so I can do it off the truck before I install it. Should I put it on the headers before cats or after cats?

Most of us do it at the Y pipe. Just be advised that welding post cats will skew readings slightly because of the cats doing what they do to reduce overall emissions outputs, but since you are in CA, it sort of is what it is you know? It's still an option to weld before the cats, however. In my case since I have true dual exhaust now I had the exhaust shop weld a bung right at the X pipe where the two inlets merge to the main X body. Easy, central and done.

Maybe that’s why I’m on my second sensor. Gotta make some changes when I get some time off.

My Denso finally died after 7 years of use to be fair, but I'm sure I could have gotten much more use out of it if I had it hooked up to only come on as soon as the engine was on.

I was having issues where the sensor would read perfectly fine on initial run but as soon as I made a flash revision change on my tune it would die mid pull and read 9.99 on my lambda readings. As soon as my pull was over it would come back to life. No one knew what the hell to say about it, some would be like oh your power or ground source is bad. Others would be like try the sensor and others would just flat out blame the fact that it was on serial readout entirely. Eventually I just got sick of the laziness for lack of better wording and just swapped the sensor. All of sudden we're back in full business again ALL the time.

It's all difficult on this truck. Fuel pump, cam gears, pulley change, restrictor jet. Take your pick and it's all annoying, and sometimes hard to do.

PXL_20231009_204614238.jpgPulley installed without an issue. The Craftsman 3 jaw puller is the way. And the install tool was almost too easy, you can push it right past where it needs to be if you're not careful.

It's a gates, so had to cut it in half. They don't make one for our setup specifically.
