the bothersome one i went to insisted that the vehicle has to have the carb sticker, under the hood. i put it on and thought no more of it. overall i gotta say this CARB shit is tedious in the extreme. probly run by a bunch of old guys and women. bah humbug, get off my lawn etc etc.. haha

/sigh this is not the country i grew up in, thats for sure =D

I’m not following (except for the faster crank and weight savings obviously). Is the alternator in that car clutched? Fuel economy has just a ridiculous amount of variables affecting it and the higher MAF rate could perhaps be just from colder ambient air?
Either way, not saying that you didn’t see what you saw, but skeptical of the difference in battery technology being the root cause. When you say lithium, assume you mean LFP? Pretty sure that’s what the Antigravity uses that someone else mentioned. I run Shorai batteries (LFP) in some of my motos for weight savings and the slow discharge rate, but never considered it for cars trucks. Interesting findings nonetheless! Warrants more discussion IMHO

I got denied by both. Tried calling corporate and they directed me to the dealers. Tried calling again to see if I might get another rep from corporate and same thing. So I called multiple dealers and same thing. They all said since they don't have a record of my TRD supercharger purchase or receipt or being installed by the dealer they can't order it for me. They asked for my VIN and same answer at all the dealers no record or purchase or install so they won't get me the CARB sticker. I even brought my vehicle to two of the location to have them inspect the supercharger. But they said they wouldn't order it for me. These are all Toyota dealers in Orange County, CA. Might be different in other location.

Let me find them and I'll let you know.

If you ask nicely the TRD whisperer will contact you. If they are still on here they may help if they see your request. There have also been others that have "made" their own sticker. The TRD one is the same. If you have a Manguson they are specific to serial and only sold with the bully tune but you don't have to use that.

Edit: did not see @Kennyluu611 response. but yah that don't know so as long as the CARB EO matches that's all they look at. enter it in the comp and move on.

You need to go to the parts department for the label, and the manager is the one who gets the label for you if it needs to be ordered. I had zero problems getting mine from Tustin Toyota. I got a backup label about 4-5 months ago because I'm considering doing the 2.5 Gen conversion and they had it in stock.

That said, Toyota discontinued producing the labels a while ago so whatever is in inventory is all that's left. Tustin bought all they could find because of this. Also, these labels are for the TRD version, not the Magnuson. You need to go to Magnuson for their label if that's what you have.

3" FJ? Are you referring to the intake tube and TRD intake? If so that's an easy one to get. someone may have an extra.

Unless you're maxing your MAF you may want to consider going back to the TRD intake tube. I had mine and removed as we were having issues but that was early on when it was added. need to go back and assess again.

Oh okay I saw that in the 1st page people recommended switching out the intake tube to the bigger 3" one

yah Rob (@12TRDTacoma) and Rob (Me) were working on that. @12TRDTacoma is running strong but you will need to get some tuning done if you swap it in. It wont work well out of the box. If you have basic add ons it wont net much out of the gate. YOu can easily swap the Tacoma tune in with the rest of your parts. That is what I am running now but plan to go back to the FJ/TR4 tube once I get around to my exhaust mods and possibly another step down on the pulley.

Copy, yeah I just got my full exhaust rework done and the step down to the 2.8 pulley I was actually able to kiss 7 psi which is just about perfect for peace of mind of not having to start cooling the blower out of efficiency/heat.

I have the hptuners stuff being mailed to me right now to go through it remotely with Justin. Everyone swears by the tuning so much I'm kinda nervous and excited with what it will accomplish

Would adding the larger intake without tune cause a lean issue? More air than what the MAF "thinks"?
Not saying that is what your issue was, just pointing out that @FishingInSand should be tuned before running that combo. Don't want any unplanned BOOMs.

Would there be that much more air that the ECU couldn't keep up with balancing the air/fuel ratio? I do have a 320 lph urd fuel system too, so I'm not worried about that end of it being a supply issue at least

There is definitely an issue with scaling. The MAF is a transducer converting the analog signal of Air passing through the sensor, then get converted to a millivolt signal. That is based on a known internal diameter of the intake tube. So the volume of air flowing through the tube will be greater than what the "look up table" derives when running the increased size tube. I believe some have swapped to a Subaru MAF that has a larger range.
But there is definitely smarter people to answer that.
I would be hesitant to drive before confirmed. Do you have an AFR sensor and gauge?

you will def need tuning. Justin @JustDSM will be able to hook you up. It will likely run better with the tacoma tune over FJ but at his point Justin and team have done more work on T4Rs and cleaned it up but so far my MAF is not maxing out so its not a NEED yet but you def do no want to drive it without a tune for it.

Justin can send you tunes to get you started. I'm still learning and Justin has been fantastic.
