Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
We have the widest temperature swing of any state.

Last year I moved out of my self built, off-grid cabin that I lived in for over a decade. Not sure if the weather made me tougher or crazier.

Only had AC for the last few summers. Added a propane heater for supplementation for the last few winters. Otherwise all wood heat.
Solar with battery bank and supplemented with a gas generator. Hauled all my water.
All that while putting myself through college and working in a professional environment where I develop temperature controllers for pedestals in the Semiconductor industry. Just pointing that out as it was such a dichotomy of lifestyle that added to the challenges of attempting the "simple life".

Was a great experience and somehow had a woman by my side the whole time that loved it just as much.
I would not recommend that lifestyle to anyone that does not like pain, suffering, madness, sweating all night, cutting, hauling, splitting wood, dealing with dead batteries at 4a.m., then dealing with a generator too cold to start, truck stuck in snow drift, then neighbors tractor stuck trying to pull me out, then have to get another tractor to pull them out... Would be sooooo much easier in a southern climate.
But Spring and Fall are glorious.

double plated so its stronger. my only concern is finding a 1/2" drive that fits it. as is my rousch is very close to the fan and a pita to change belts.

that’s why I got a cheap 1st gen LEAF EV as a “daily”. I have driven the truck once in the past two months and it was to go to the car wash to get the last trip washed off. I spend $2/week in electricity to charge the car. That’s less than the gas it would take to get 1/3 of the way to work one way.

in my set up its very difficult to fit a 1/2" bar on my tensioner. i have some specialty parts that make simple moves not so.

The funny thing about fuel economy is you’re bragging in both directions.

16mpg highway, 10mpg mixed freeway and city

the only way to win that game is not to play. true ninja status is only achieved, in other words, when you stop caring about gas entirely =D

in the world of running, they say that you're supposed to reach the finish line with just enough energy to make it ONE step past the finish line. makes a certain sense, that way you really were doing all you could.

i like to arrive where i'm going with about a quarter tank of gas left for much the same reasons, otherwise not enough fun was had, haha

I do like this too. I just like to note to others that the right thing to do is support the oil and gas industry.

Yup. I’ve gotten pulled over for no good reason in SoCal the last couple of times I’ve visited my brother. showing they’ll pull over an old taco running the coveted permanent tags.

Question for y’all… anyone have any experience with AP Exhaust or Walker Exhaust aftermarket cats?

i was recently gifted a 97 4Runner and have been doing some maintenance items and fixing it up. Unfortunately, it’s just failed Smog today.
New oem cat are around 1200 it seems, a supposedly CARB legal one manufactured by Walker is around 900.
Or I could get a universal one and weld it in for around 415… both aftermarket options say they are legal for California use. I’m just skeptical.

my plan was to use this as a daily driver for the Tacoma. It’s in decently good shape otherwise it would be a shame to let it die.

Depends, I like the ticon cat, gesi, and they have carb ones but are pricey and need to be welded
