Apologies for not paying close attention but, is any of that applicable to those of us with 16" wheels or only those with 17" wheels?

Only 17" wheels for most of it but Stoptech does make a 16" 6 piston setup. Same calipers ST60 but with a smaller rotor 323 instead of 338. If you are looking to beef up braking then that's the setup for you. I am working on getting setup with SOS as a vendor here soon.

The 16" Stoptech 6 pot setup is on my radar. @nudavinci64, have your brake caliper changes worked with the factory electronic master or is that upgraded as well?

yah, mostly it's been fine. I had some softness with the T4R setup and a bit with the RR Racing (this one more so I think we needed better bleeding). Overall the truck stops pretty good for being 6500lbs on an average day if not more, and running large tires.

Been driving a round a 3rd gen 4 banger while our car and the truck are out of service and I miss the braking in my Truck.

Wilwood BBK here.. Weight savings at around 11lbs per corner and have been fantastic and still running the factory master.. I wouldnt mind upgrading to the Tundra or the Wilwood one.. but havent NEEDED to yet. truck is ~6600lbs with 17's and 35's. Wilwood kits will only work with 17" wheels as well.

That’s an interesting point. I wonder how much weight gain/drop I have from OEM small brakes to the StopTech BBK. @crashnburn80 did you happen to do a comparison?

i know the stoptech is heavier if you go the regular. If you go 2 piece I believe similar. the willwood kit if you buy the Tacoma one comes with 2 piece rotors which helps in the weight reduction.

The kit that @XPOTRPR has is the Tacoma-specific one—pistons setup for the Tacoma master etc. The RR Racing is set up for T4R/GX so they are a tad larger than the Tacoma versions and also use the higher-end Aero6 caliper, which is a tad heavier as well. Stoptech kits from SOS are similar to the Wilwood Tacoma kits and have similar piston sizes. The Wilwood is likely the lighter of the kits as they use the Superlite calipers that I believe are aluminum

I have both the stoptech st60 on my 4runner and tacoma as well as the rear disk brake conversion on the tacoma, so i am very happy with the stopping power. the factory 4runner setup was ok but the tacoma's was unacceptable. it is imo very much worth the monies, but you gotta pay to play. I do plan on adding rear st40 calipers to both in the future. the other overlooked item is the brake pad compound depending on use so you might be happy with the oem "upgrade" but you'll need to get good quailty pads and rotors

Yep. Gain of 4.2lbs per front corner, covered in post #617.

The Wildwood setup uses 2 piece aluminum hat rotors, the 340mm ST60 StopTech kit uses 1 piece cast rotors (like stock but larger). I think the larger 355mm is the minimum for 2 piece rotors from StopTech on the Tacoma.

They have 2 piece 340 rotors now.

I thought I saw those, did a quick google search and didn't see them and started questioning my memory. Would be a nice upgrade to the ST60 kit, as not only do you shave weight, they are directionally cooled so they will be higher performing and I believe all StopTech 2 piece rotors are made in the USA unlike their 1 piece units from China.

I don't mean to toot my brakes but I was told by several (race) shops that they feel better than the competition on my FJ so different brake master. RR racing Wildwood aero6 with EBC slotted rotors on 40s. About 118lbs per corner. When I build my 9" rear, I'll be sticking with Wilwood

I have the same flex a lite fan and aluminum radiator. Really happy with my set up and hasn't shown any signs of giving into heat soak. I would suggest to update the thermostatic switch to a PWM module that can adjust your fan so it doesn't have to pull all or nothing. I'm using a derale PWM fan controller.

Also that coolant reservoir has a strange design for the bottom connections. Even extending the lines it will still attach awkwardly. I ended up using a beverage machine 180° stainless U to connect the hose.

You can get 2 piece on the 338 rotors. I have them on my Tacoma.

@Lucario Runner the front and rear is great. I bumped the rear to the ST40 Caiipers. Very nice. E Brake is useless but that an issue even with 4runners I hear and that's basically what it uses.

Technically they are 338mm. Minor. When I go them I had to ask why they were not 340 similar to the non 2 piece but nice setup indeed. I need to see if I have a photo of them.

The Aero-6 Was a nice caliper. I want back and forth on keeping them but felt the Tacoma spec pistons were better fit. Before I swapped them out I had the ST40 on the rear and swapped out the compound I think to the BP-10. truck stopped damn good. You will get a lot of mixed responses on wilwood vs stoptech. Wilwood is a very builder/fab friendly brand. I kept my Aero-6's and may swap them back on at some point.
