Correct my man. It's thinner for whatever reason than the Beck Arnley ones and as we all know the thinner a seal is the higher the chance of leakage.

Hmm this gives me a good idea to recheck my crank bolt torque. I just gave it the beans with my Milwaukee but I definitely don’t want it coming loose.

Honestly 150-180 psi on any air gun or anything which gives equivalent to 150-180 ft lbs is more than plenty on that bolt.

Any recommendations on performance valves? I see several brands for 1GR can they be oversized at all? Or any companies sell pre built performance heads? (Machine shop costs in Bay Area CA are more than FL or TX plus shipping)

there’s a shop in FL that seems reasonable wonder if they would build an upgraded valve setup? https://www.cylinder-heads.com/product/2-toyota-4runner-fj-cruiser-tundra-truck-4-0-dohc-v6-1grfe-cylinder-heads-03-13/

Some coolant detected in oil. Changed H2O pump Last year and was gonna do the oil cooler O-Rings and see if that resolved but by the time I take heads off for head gasket I may as well upgrade and swapping in saves time vs sending out for valve job.

Ridiculous question, but I’m going to ask it anyway: what plastic plug is used to hide the supercharger nose hole? I just spent the last 45 minutes searching here and on Google and came up empty :notsure:

Yup. It doesn't do anything but maybe keep a bit of dirt out of screw threads.

From prior correspondence with @Torspd about valves.

"SuperTech offers oversized by 1mm or 1.5mm. Cheaper than Ferrea. Their OEM size is considered "custom order." Ferrea, has OEM size availability."

Noticed on Super Techs site that the exhaust valves are available +1mm where the intake valves are available in +1.5 as well as 1mm.

Also, if bumping up valves is the concensus to bump up both intake and exhaust by an equal amount? I would assume so but there's this thing with assumptions sometimes....

@zerotimeouts As a native Bay Area guy, I understand the crazy labor rates, etc.

But when I had an Sr20DE cyl head ported out, I found a guy in your neck of the woods (Rohnert Park). But this was a long time ago.

Point is, there were more machine shops up in SR, RP, and near Sonoma because of Infineon...... versus anything in SF, Peninsula. South Bay.

I would also look at LCE and other places in SoCal because labor rates are lower and there's way more automotive machine shops and engine rebuilders.

I would target some SoCal shops that specialize in Toyotas/Lexus (1jzs. 2jzs, beams, ae86s, etc)..... and ask for some referrals.

Could try supercharger s online if you really want it, but probably some harbor freight cover will be the same. It's just plastic.

I would go with supertech valves and invest in better valve springs. If I were to build a head I would focus on the springs, seats, and guide with a nice clean. Factory valves are pretty large compared to others. If you got the money then go all out. I would inquire with lce they did offer that service long ago, not sure if they still do.

Thanks, I know it’s a common part, I was just hoping someone might know the size offhand

As Tor said, a bolt will work or if you truly want another plastic cap/plug I was able to use one from a toyota fastener kit on Amazon. It had some plastic lines/ridges on the inner portion that i shaved down with a razor blade and now it fits flush and looks damn near identical.

That looks good, I think other guys have used slightly smaller ones too. Maybe I’ll take a ride over to harbor freight and see what they have.
