TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Large dry filter with a nano skin brand (I think?) cover to protect from water. I’ve never had a problem with dirt or water ingestion, my intake tube is clean as a whistle.

but I also live in SoCal and the most this truck sees besides dusty desert is rain on the fwy and the occasional small puddle when offroad.

 

Tell me more about those core support braces. Are they custom or is someone producing those?

 

Only the newest version of the TRD intake (made by K&N) is CARB approved. The older TRD intakes and AFE intakes for the Tacoma/FJ/4R are not CARB approved as they lack the Carbon filter. I’m running the new sticker and hoping they don’t notice!

 

This is the second gen trd intake and is carb legal. It was the whole reason I spent big dollars on it.

 

I do like the idea of a 1gr community core in case they do not have spare rides.

Figured it wouldn't last.

I knew I should have just grabbed it. There's enough of us that it would have worked out in the end. Next time anything like that pops up.. let's grab it. I'm 110% in.

 

So, @Billy182 reached out to have me trim down another VW Roller Bearing for the @BillDaCat8 wrap mod. To make these a little quicker/easier/repeatable, I've been working on a Fixture to hold these securely and hit the cut off/stand off length required every time... quickly and easily. The first prototype was from Aluminum. Tested.. and realized it required some adjustments.. both to design and material choice. Working on finishing up the final version and then to knock out this Roller. Question is.. now that this will be quick and easy.. I'm thinking of ordering a handful of these VW Rollers to run a small batch of these, and supply them along with necessary hardware, etc for those interested or needing a wrap mod, especially with smaller pulley's. Any interest for a small run?

Oh snap, its only good for 2005-2011 models. Prob because it doesnt have air injection.

You can still fit it. @12TRDTacoma and myself used the SAIS relocate Holly uses for their intake. Moves it near the headlight.

 

I would be down in case I want to run it.

Yes you definitely can. I still run it on mine and it has never been an issue since install.
