Apologies for the detour and if I'm being obtuse, Rob, but are you saying our blowers make 8.5-9psi in stock configuration?

No brotha. They make 8.5-9 psi with a 2.8 pulley at sea level elevation on average due to exhaust restriction at the Y pipe. Stock with the 3.0 pulley they make 5.5-6.5 psi.

That explains it right there. Those are a POS. Replace it with a Denso PN from the link I posted on page one and get back to us.

I think the PN was 234-5137. Should last you about 7-8 years before it starts acting weird.

Took it for a drive just now, 50° ambient temp.
Afrs looked fine now, high 10s @ wot. Maybe the sensor needed a heat cycle to get it moving. Its still a little latent but it says im safe.

Still only maxing out at 6psi. At one point under wot on a long straightaway the blower whine became inconsistent at high rpm, possible belt slippage? Boost didnt falter when it sounded different. Highly doubt belt slippage, brand new belt on a 2.8 pulley is very close to stock.

I checked the hose for boost sensor, still tight with no issues or leaks.

I guess I will smoke test it, maybe the seal for the lid is too flat to seal.

let me check my peak saved on my gauge. I think you should be getting more too.
We have pretty much the same setup, can gears, 2.8, TRD flash and all. Sea level & even slightly warmer temps here in SoCal.
I wanna say mine is around 7-8psi.

Went to work and gpt my smoke machine. My lazy ass didnt replace lid seal and sure enough there is smoke coming from lid seal. If its coming through at 0psi, im sure 6 psi will escape easily. Stay tuned.

I have a 2.85 stealth pulley and after a full custom exhaust I hit 6.5/7.0 max at full wot going up a grade.

Replaced lid seal. Peaking at 7 psi with 6s constant. Feels better for sure, i have bone stock exhaust and intake so it might be maxed out.

Lets see what a 2.7 pulley will do

Any hope of being able to run an aftermarket intake with an ARB compressor under the hood?0216242014_HDR.jpg

I’ve never had a problem with them as long as you install them as indicated and directions (before cats at 10 o clock or 2 o clock position). They also need to be calibrated every so often (also in directions).

I don't see why you cant. You may just need to relocate the air lines. I cant recall when I removed mine. I also had my compressor there, but I relocated my SAI (which you don't have) to that location, and the only reason I removed the compressor (moved it inside one of the bedsides).

I thought you wanted it before the secondary cats, not the main cats? I could be wrong but I have always seen them burned in on the Y pipe for the aftermarket AFR.

You may be correct. This is my first rodeo. I forgot too that these exhaust systems are double walled. Originally I had planned to put the sensor at the y pipe but it wouldve made the sensor at a 3 oclock position

Always before any Catalytic Converter if you want true readings. Have done this on two supercharged s2000s, a supercharged G35, and now my FJ without any issues

People do them at the Y pipe or between the cats because you can do it without taking the headers out. Not the right way per AEM or Innovate
