I haven’t dug deep into the engine bay to get a good look, but I wonder if there is a way to make extended studs and then add a plate or something that bolts to some other things and turns the studs into a double sheer. Then there wouldn’t be any more stud failures.

downside is that the belt(s) would be fully captured and not able to quickly swap.

I was putting my charger back on after getting it rebuilt and the gasket for the inter cooler came off. Is this thing just held on by high temp rtv? My inter cooler and that chamber of the blower was covered in oil took me a minute to clean it.

Mine was covered in oil too when I got mine used — I got a replacement foam strip from URD but it was 1/2 falling off after about 2 miles literally, so I took it off. Didn’t want it getting sucked up by one of the 6 options.
    Seems fine almost 15k later.

oh snap you took it off, man that makes me nervous. I didn’t even consider taking it off and running without it.

There is a lip that it seals into.

Are you talking about the intercooler lid seal or the orange seal that goes around the bottom of the intercooler?

I think a few people have on here have removed the orange seal. I tried to rtv mine on but it didn't really want to stick even after cleaning the crap out of the intercooler. My original one was hanging on just barely.

If you are talking about the black o ring type seal you definitely need that, and if it doesn't meet up a small dab of rtv is recommended by magnuson to make sure it seals up.

Should probably clarify I took off the orange foamy one on the bottom of the intercooler piece.
    Not the s/c lid o-ring.

are you running with it? I just lined mine up the best I could and put it back in.

I saw in the install manual talking about the black o ring if it has been separated put some RTV on it. I have no idea what their talking about.

Yea I put a new one in recently for peace of mind when I swapped out my coupler. My assumption is that if you take it out, it's possible your charge air can bypass the intercooler and let warmer air into the engine. Maybe not enough to cause an issue but I also feel like they put it there for a reason.

It's the oring that seals the intercooler cover to the supercharger housing. Well they call it an oring but it's more like a seal. It's not a solid piece though, if you buy a new one its basically a long string and if you don't cut it perfect there will be a gap.

maybe ill add the foam thing back. Last time I took the blower off it fell off and hung out in the back of my truck for a bit before getting discarded after a ton of the guys here said they tossed it and never looked back. I haven't see any hard evidence its done any worse off without it.

    Same.
It makes sense why it’s there, especially with the ridge on the blower.
I haven’t noticed any ill effects either though. No pinging on hot days or anything to indicate intake temps getting outrageous. Even in the desert when about 100 and on it hard in boost.

The pulleys that came with this system nearly lasted 100k, junk. To much force in the driveline of this system. The bearings are good but I replaced all but one.

It would be interesting for someone to read this thread in its entirety. And just see how much great info is now lost due to a bunch of stupid posts
