TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I actually did… early COVID before buying @crashnburn80 ’s truck to know what I was getting into with a 1gr-Fe and magnuson supercharger… I had a 1st gen at the time and had everything researched to do the supercharger on that but knew nothing about the 2nd gen in detail.

A lot of beers were drank while reading the thousands of pages.

Back on subject, today I took the truck out for its first real shake down run since upgrading with @BillDaCat8 wrap mod, Rousch tensioner, and new gates rpm belt. About 100 miles round trip, and no issues whatsoever. Pulled clean up to 10psi at least a few times and ran strong.

After reading of @Murphinator ’s recent problems, I paid attention not to make any hard shifts that might send a shock to the belt drive and break something.
I’m thinking I may change from the new rpm belt to a fleetrunner for a little peace of mind. I don’t mind a little belt stretch for street driving as long as it doesn’t make a huge seat of the pants difference, and I’m thinking the added cushion of stretch during hard shifts may help prevent component failure due to the nature of what we’re dealing with.

Smog guy failed me for not having the CARB Sticker underneath the hood for the supercharger…

Since mine is a Trd, I’m going to check with my local dealer to see if it’s something they can order. Anyone know how to obtain this?

Your regular Toyota dealer’s parts department can get them for you. Make sure you tell them that the number needs to be ordered from Materials. If they don’t know what you’re talking about, politely ask for the parts manager and he’ll know.

exactly, yes. Just the under hood sticker is all I was failed for.
Smog guy said it needs to be on the vehicle, even though I brought all the executive order paperwork.

When I told him it fell off, he said he didn’t care, but his boss and the government would.

I bet they can get my TRD intake sticker the same.way I still never got that and luckily my smog tech didn't notice the urd fuel pump setup ziptied to my frame in the dark lol. I think he was busy with the engine bay

 

Funny enough the Volant (non legal) intake on my truck has a sticker from a different part, Chevy Silverado, and he said that was fine.

 

DLR said that I have to go through TRD specifically lol. That the dealer network cannot order these.

think I’ll go with the eBay seller as it’ll be cheaper and less of a hassle I’m sure

 

At least your smog tech is willing to work with you and get you signed off with the sticker

Turns out I thought about this about 2.5 yrs ago LOL. I never got anything figured out then... and waited to install the S/C until June of 2022 so I wouldn't run into this issue!

Nice setup on the xrunner! Was a 2.5 Gen xrunner a factory thing? Or did you convert the front end? Looks awesome!
