My 4.88s with 35s and a locker at 7psi is a fuuuun truck.

I would heavily consider a water/meth setup. You can be safe without it, but it's cheap insurance and 100% adds power and keeps heatsoak down. I cannot recommend it enough. If you can wire up a light bar you can easily install it.

I have the sno 2.5 kit bought from a fellow member. Everything needed to run. I use a mixture of heet and washer fluid to get a 50/50 mix.

I live in southern NC so summer temps are brutal, was only able to hit 6 psi and after a few pulls would get so hot it would lose power, after meth i can run hard all day in 100° temps with no issues.

    A/F at wot is 10.1

There isn't really an easy way to swap out the pcv valve once the blower is on, is there? If anyone has any tips to do this on a TRD off road I'd appreciate it.

“Sub’d” as I’m also wondering. I have a new PCV in the parts bin that I plan to put on “soon”. If nobody answers before I get to it, I’ll let you know. I may pull the blower off for an early rebuild at the same time.

I moved the coolant reservoir and there's just enough room but it is definitely a faster job without the supercharger.

A swivel will help too. It's a tight fit, but it can be done.

I used a breaker with a swivel head to break it loose but I dislike the ratchet with a swivel that I have so I didn't even think about using it.

You do not. The Smoothflow ones are manufactured according to Tacoma's superchargers snout mounting needs.

Nope. Just mount the hub flush with the snout end and check the alignment. I'm sure if anyone had an alignment issue, you'd hear about it here. If I recall, just make sure to specify the 5 rib Eaton MP90 charger for Toyota.

That’s interesting. In the old days we’d just drive up a hill and listen for it, and back off on some timing if we heard it ping. I can remember adding water injection to a ‘78 Volare so we could get a little more advance out of the slant 6… lol how times have changed :D

What I have found over the years is that knock is not always audible. And as intricate as engines are becoming and have become along with all the sound dampening being placed on everything, all over the place, sometimes you will not be able to audibly catch it.

Yes, obviously. This is very apparent to anyone who has done tuning with modern vehicles. I was only trying to shed a little humor on what was common years ago. Thanks for the explanation for all the young’ns :p

I know right, unfortunately we aren't dealing with 72 carbureted Chevy's anymore. Simpler times, but with that, also more time buried under the hood. EFI is legitimate. :)

Absolutely! And to that, 110%! Looking back while comparing it to modern design, it’s like looking back at the dinosaur age. Electronic fuel injection and the ability for an everyday backyard mechanic to learn so much about combustion efficiency through study, practical knowledge, and tools such as hp tuners is a wet dream for any true enthusiast.
Plus, the ability to share knowledge over the internet through forums such as this is really the best ever for a regular person.

Would I need to cut the snout to run the smoothflow, if I only plan on running a 2.8" pulley ?
