Here's a good one for the guys here. Time to replace my spark plugs and I am looking at actually switching out from iridium IKH24's to a copper equivalent.

The only luck I have head so far are BKR8E-11 NGK's but upon inspecting their cross referencing tables and specs I am actually finding that their reach is shorter than IKH24 Denso and NGK Iridium's which are 26.5mm vs. The copper version 19mm...

Speaking of spark plugs, gonna swap mine out since half have about 50k on them and the other 110k. Any tricks to getting the drivers side? Pulling the s/c to get to them? Any important torque specs when doing so? I've never had the s/c off and couldn't get enough woblies to get them out without pulling the s/c. I tried last time and couldn't, hence only changing half last time

The SC does not have to come off. All you need to do is use some 3/8 swivel attachments attached to the spark plug socket, a few good extensions, fine drive snap on ratchets since the clicks in between movement is less than a cheapie rachet and that's it. I did all 6 in under an hour without ever removing the intake. Did I swear a bit? You bet.

Lucky you @snowsk8air2 . I'm only getting about 20-25k of mileage out of my plugs before they look toast and make the idle a little bit on the rough end.

Maybe I'll grab an extra wobbly before I try again and see if that helps. Plugs showed up today and I'm thinking about trying tomorrow after I install sliders and do the ecgs bushing on another truck.

I've only done done with the sc off. It doesnt take long to pull it.
Get those plugs out quick @snowsk8air2
You will have a bad day if one of those old plugs breaks off in the cylinder while running.

So any tips, tricks, or special torque specs I should know about if I end up pulling the sc to do so

So do you need two swivels or just one?

One in between spark plug socket and extension, possibly one more at the end of the extension and the rachet as well. I'll let you know tomorrow when I do my swap out. I may switch back to the IKH22's or equivalent to heat range.

Follow tq specs for sc to lower intake manifold. I dont know it off hand
    Remove sc belt from pulley
Back off sc intercooler clamps but leave hoses on unless they leak
    Remove boost line
    Remove intercooler 10mm bolts
Lift up and remove intercooler hoses
Lower hoses into a pan to catch coolant
    Remove intake
    Remove vacuum lines
    Remove sc bracket top bolts
    Remove plenum bolts
    Remove sc
Might as well change sc oil while you're at it

Install reverse order and top off with a bit of coolant

Thanks. I didn't do my ac install so I have no documentation that would have any torque specs. Dealer installed at 17 miles lol. Gonna try to grab a second wobbly and see if that works. If not I'm pulling the sc. shooting for tomorrow afternoon. If you or anyone can find important torque specs, please post up.

    Thanks

im still a ways off from doing plugs but I was really hoping not to have to pull the coolant hoses from the s/c. I figured I'd pull the S/C off though to make the driver side easier. I do have a a metic and standard set of flex sockets so maybe I can make them work instead
