I'm not entirely sure as they don't like to give out specific details, but from what I understand, they mod the VB similar to the ratiotek kit with bigger springs and wider orifices, and they also replace several aluminum components with steel where the factory VB has some steel on aluminum friction points that cause premature wear in the aluminum. Exactly what components and where, I'm not sure, so some faith is required to believe they're doing what they're saying. The reviews are good though.

Their selling point is that you're paying for increased longevity above a kit like the ratiotek because they are upgrading the quality of certain components in addition to the shift kit.

How long did it take you to get it out?

Once you drain the pan, it should only take about 30 minutes to get it out if you have the stock y-pipe. It's really pretty simple to remove.

If you have the URD y-pipe though, it will take longer because it crosses right below the pan. I had to disconnect the URD y-pipe from the header flanges to get the y-pipe to drop enough to allow the pan to slide out. That took another 30 minutes, so about an hour total for me to get it out.

Not bad at all. Be sure to update us on the turn around time. I’d really like to have this done soon as well.

Mine has responded like this since day 1 on my TRD tune. I always thought it was an electronic throttle control issue. I considered the sprint booster to deal with it, but never tried it.

I have always had the same issue as well, sometimes just a little more pronounced than not. I'm surprised UCON doesn't have throttle parameters you can modify so there is less delay.

I have a couple of questions related to ECU's, if someone can straighten me out.

I've had a TRD Flashed ECU for the last 10 years. I'm currently installing a new to me 60k mile Tacoma(2005) engine to replace my burnt up 180K stocker. I've fell victim to the whole "while you're at it" mentality. Damn these forums can be bad for your wallet. I'm finally upgrading to all the components that I said I never needed. I bought a UCON (stage 1 tune), spec'd for my TRD flash and 2.875" pulley. While I've been slowly working on the engine exchange, I've also added into the mix: 61# injectors, URD 7th Injector, Equal length Headers, 2.55" pulley, AFE Intake, a new ron davis radiator with electric fans, and the cherry on top, a Roost Factor Y in the cue.

I have been reading that the TRD tune may not be the best platform for the UCON to manage. I know that especially applies to the newer generations (however mine is an '07). I have procured a stock ECU for my FJ if that is required.

    1) I know I'm going to need a ucon update to accommodate the 61# injectors before I get this truck fired up. Gadget says he'll get me setup when I'm ready.
    2) If I do update the ECU, do you know if I can perform the VIN sync/reflash jumper with the ECON installed? Or should I connect the new ECU in the stock position, and perform the sync/reset without the final step of starting the engine (as I would have larger injectors and s/c that would probably prevent it from starting or wash the cylinders down with gas)?
    3) If I swap the truck to a stock ECU, can the TRD flashed ECU be used by someone who would be installing a Magnuson blower on a same year FJ? Would they be able to perform the same ECU reset but retain the TRD flash?

Yes. The throttle can be touchy especially in race mode. There are 3 levels to choose from though on the sprint booster. Basically there’s normal, medium, or race mode. I think normal alone takes out the delay

Sounds like my pedal commander. Put that thing on spicy mode...once. Drove like I had epilepsy.
