Realistically we would need a decent batch to cut down on cost from the r&d part of it. No matter how many are made in the batch, machining time will not be minimal, so it will be expensive.
I can see a cost of upwards of $200 per as realistic. But for peace of mind and not ending up with a broken tensioner on the side of the road, I would buy it for that price

exactly. Machine time will be the biggest portion of it. I was actually thinking around that price point as well tbh. but who knows..

Okay let's do this, obviously because this is a continuously ongoing thread and people are used to seeing it make it's way In the consistently posted threads I will post up an exclusive thread for a group buy so more people can see it and know about it, because posting about it in here will only gain so much notoriety.

Only and if only @XPOTRPR is ready to proceed with a group buy and says it's okay, however.

$200 too expensive for a custom made billet item? Dude the billet coolant reservoir for our trucks are like $400 and way less complex to build than this tensioner. I think $200 is actually pretty fair. Obviously cheaper would be better but considering the R&D to build this thing for a smaller niche amount of people, I think it's mostly fair.

Just a wild guesstimate on my part, keeping in mind my extremely limited machining experience, knowledge of material cost, and machining time.

I dont think we're to that point yet. I want to gather some more info about the tensioner and just get a design started. This was just to get a test of people interested I think.

I'm interested. However, and I apologize for not looking back in this thread to find the previous posts, what caused the failure of the stock tensioner in the first place?

How would changing the size of the drive pulley cause the tensioner to fail? I would think putting a shorter belt on or increasing belt tension would do it, but not the small pulley alone.

That's exactly why, we have theorized that there is a fault in the casting process or the tensioner is hitting the stop at some point when using a belt that is of too high tension which is causing it to snap in the process since these are made of cast aluminum.

If that’s the case shave off the stop. How many of these failures happen off road vs pavement?

One snapped during removal and one snapped on pavement.

I think you are missing the point. The point is we want to remove the potential weak points on the serpentine system so we can ensure full boost in a fully reliable fashion. Shaving the stop and calling it good is not enough peace of mind for most of us. I have personally never had an issue but I really would not like to tempt fate like that. Besides, as tight as it is in there with so many vital things right there, cooling hoses, wiring, sensors. I'd rather not play roulette with having my belt snap or jump off and cause chaos in there.

I didnt say it wouldnt be worth that price. Only that "too rich for my blood" meaning I cant afford that price.
