Curious also, but his factor for blowing the engine may had been a bad batch of E85, though that seems to be happening quite a bit from what I have seen before.

There is one common underlying question I have with all these people blowing motors, having issues, etc... how did these people have their fuel systems set up?

If I remember right, it blew right at the end of a 1/4 drag run, due to letting off the gas too fast and causing a lean condition.

Lean conditions after full throttle close down is a normal thing though. It is actually part of DFCO. (Deceleration fuel cutoff) there had to have been something else that did it.

    YES

I'm still unsure if doing the snakebite to the s/c is worth the cost for the supposed gains. Just seems kind of gimmicky, but I could be completely wrong.

Well that's two for a Qwikchange pulley.

As far as the Snakebite mod goes. Nah.. not with this gen blower. They are already ported for max flow and efficiency.

So some clarification is required here...

In all the literature I've read regarding the OEM TRD-supplied supercharger, the unit is a M90.

On the other hand, Magnuson's website states that the system they offer utilizes a fifth generation Eaton MP90 unit.

    So what does this mean?

Did TRD actually use Eaton MP90s for the 1GRE motor? Or did were they indeed M90s, and along the way people confused the two nearly identical supercharger series designations?

I'm just thinking aloud here (tinfoil-hat time), but if Magnuson did indeed upgrade the supercharger from the M90 to the MP90 after TRD discontinued the s/c offering, it might explain the delay with Magnuson releasing the supercharger system as they had to develop and machine a new fitment kit as the MP90 has a slightly different and larger footprint than the M90.

No. It blew at the end when a rod called it quits to the man, and wanted to see the world.

That was on his TRD s/c setup. With the stock block. As well as a raised rev limiter.

The stock rods protest the combination of a raised rev limiter and boost. Just won't have it. One or the other.

Fuel system was an upgraded pump and larger injectors. 668cc I believe.

I think you can do the snakebite with out porting the blower. It just adds an overdrive gear to the supercharger so it can make more boost on stock pulley that way you wont have tensioner problems. Also the blower sounds wicked spinning that fast.

    Thank you for that. :)

-_- NO SPRAY FOR YOU! NEXT!

    :) (Really though. No spray)

Yeah see there is no way in he'll I'm going to raise rev limiter. I'm already uncomfortable with the revs in stock form, but it's low-ish, so I'll take it.

Wonder if he had the FPR mod hooked up. Probably not.

Come to think if it. The fact that he immediately let off the gas at the RPM he was at tells me that it was directly the fault of excessive RPM.

Wonder if the 2/3RZ 4 cylinder engines with TRD superchargers also benefit from removing the jet in the air bypass. Definitely has the exact same little brass jet in the same spot

They definitely do. This is a popular well known of mod which has positive results amongst all vehicles the mod is performed on, so yes this would benefit them as well. It any other supercharged vehicle with the same bypass valve setup.

do you happen to know the ID of the hose for the boost port on the magnuson SC, for a mechanical boost gauge?

That's anyone's guess, as sizes vary from gauge manufacturer to manufacturer... me I like very tight fits when it comes to hosing which ensures there will be zero issues with vacuum leaks, so I always go smaller. If I was to take a guess I would say 1/8 hose. If not that, then it's 5/32.

    The BOOST PORT right?
Not the hard plastic for the actual gauge?

    I think its 1/4"

Go to a napa and ask to borrow calipers, or ask em to cut a 1/2" or so off of some 1/4 hose, then gauge from there?
