I’ve got the Steeda coming too. We’ll see how it works out. In the past few months I’ve spent way too much on the Tacoma and my wife’s 80.

If I were in your shoes, I'd send the manufacturer of that tensioner pictures of their sorry excuse for a product along with a letter asking what the heck was wrong with them.

 

That's some disappointment in the quality control department.

I understand you are upset @HolyHandGrenade and others are upset for you as well, I am upset for you also because it otherwise looks like a really nice unit, but stuff happens even during the shipment process. I'm not sure if you guys have seen how shoppers like UPS and FedEx handle their packages but they literally throw stuff across the room. Unfortunately when you are talking about cast aluminum it is all fair game. Which is why I was not comfortable with going for a Steeda.

 

It was in a box inside a box. I don’t think I can blame Fedex for this one.

Who on here was going to make a fully fabricated one? I’d still be in the market.

What are the symptoms of octane too low? I'm not getting pinging, idles and runs smoothly too. I'm waiting til Tuesday for my new maf sensor. Last I fueled up at one of two places I go. Wonder if their premium isnt as good. Could my computer be pulling timing as a safety measure? Sometimes when I gas it the truck hesitates hard. Like I hit the parking brake. Usually a battery disconnect solved it. Now it happens more frequently. Maybe this is an exercise of patience.

 

It's the MAF. With zero doubt at all. Mine has exhibited those symptoms before and replacing ththe MAF totally cured it. Make sure you baby it until you get the replacement sensor.

 

The defects in that tensioner were not caused by rough handling though. I'm still up for seeing what @XPOTRPR can come up with.

 

What brand was that one?

 

This sounds good. But what about methanol corrosion in the intercooler. Isn’t it made of aluminum? Also if the pump goes out for any reason that would be no bueno. @o0opackersfano0o

 

I had my intercooler open 30 min ago. I've run meth for months now. No issues there.

 

It depends on the aluminum alloy used for the intercooler and the purity of the methanol with particular focus on chloride content.
