Does the MAF conversion to hp of g/s * 1.18 calculate for wheel hp or crank hp?

Shit, I never got 17 even when NA.
Just laughing at the worry about mileage after spending more than 5k for the SC and paying for Premium fuel.

I had a customer that we renovated a 10k sq ft house and he was worried about the utility bills. Kinda in the same vein

I agree it’s silly, but I just don’t want to be seeing 9 mpg, because if I’m doing that I may as well get a supercharged tundra :bikewheelie:

My thing is I wouldn’t want to regear above 4.56 probably, just not in the cards for how I use the truck even though I know the extra power would be great.

Who needs to regear anyway, that’s why they make smaller pullies

do yourself a favor and re-gear. my 4.56's paired with the blower and even the smaller pullies.. its a whole new animal. it just brings the truck back into its powerband and no more BS shift hesitation or hang.

Regearing changed everything for me. Was on 295s with stock gears when I installed the SC. Then regeared to 4.88s, then a month later put 35s on. Kinda miss the gears with 33s. Revved pretty quick

I love the power I have with the 4.88's! And my truck doesn't run like any of yours! Being at elevation really makes a difference. I know 4.56's would be much better in the long run if I wasn't towing. And I went back and forth between the two every 20 minutes for 3 years. What sold me was the RPM difference at 65 was only about 150 and from what Chase at East Coast Gear Supply said, the strength was a wash. And I know I will have 35's one day. Especially seeing the difference that just going from 285/75R16's to 285/75R17's did. That made a 250 rpm difference at 80mph and it just seems so much smoother. That could also be the difference between MT/R's and KO2's being a part of it. I just didn't go to 35's now because I don't want a wide tire. 285's are wide enough for me, 12.50 wide is good for looks, but not needed on a truck this weight and the steering and ball joints don't need the extra drag. Also I am geared so low now that I have to work to boost in normal daily driving. But I find ways. And just for reference if anyone is interested, 80mph with 4.88's and 285/75R17 KO's is 2900 RPM with an automatic in drive. And 3200 RPM in 4th gear at 65 mph.

All you rehearing guys must really be up for kissing your RPM goodbye.

As much as I would like to, not only is it a fairly expensive endeavor, but I am also not willing to lose all my highway RPM just so I could have more fun and risk getting into more trouble.

forgive my ignorance but is there any reason the URD 2.3L whipple hasnt been placed on the tacoma 1gr? id imagine its more efficient than the old mp90 rotors (~1.5L?) and more power

re-gear is the best bang for the buck IMO.. I would do a re-gear before a blower any day.

4.56's with 285/70/17 MT's at 75-80 mph I cruise at like 2600rpm. it really isnt that bad.. my gas mileage really hasnt changed.. still an average of 16ish. 18-19 on long highway trips. The pros outweigh the short list of cons (slightly higher rpm). I gained power, no hesitation in shifts or hangs, and its great for wheeling.

I'm telling you.. re-gear does wonders.

It has been before, but if I recall correctly there are fitment issues with the hood closing over it due to the engine height.

Twin Screw is more efficient, but it also produces more heat than Roots designs.

With my 285/65/18’s and FN BFD wheels, I can just clip my front fender flares on the front at full stuff. 35’s and I’d need to do some body work... maybe a body lift wold be enough. I’m still happy with the stock gears.

but with turning the rotors slower due to the larger charger anyways it might not be far off on the heat aspect. the kit also had water cooling

Wouldn’t change my 4.56s for anything. I also put the air locker in with the gears (I have a “TRD sport” but nothing but the hood is from the sport package anymore. If I had known 8 yrs ago.......woulda got an SR5). I avg 14.3 mpg but the truck is tailored for offroad and less and less for DD.

No more gear searching!!!!!! Def makes it worth it.

I sit around 2200 rpm at 70-75 mph. Not that I drive that speed often cuz gas goes to like 11-12 mpg
