That looks like the transmission input shaft, so i believe this is the side that makes contact with the flywheel. Please correct me if im wrong Tron.

Well it looks like you have a ballpark of 50,000 miles to save up for another one. Of course sooo many variables figure into that equation.
@TRON was it good while it lasted?

Youre definitely right thats not the input shaft @richiep

Please forgive me haha, i didnt even look behind the pressure plate. I spoke with gadget earlier today though and he told me that is the side that contacts the flywheel so i am fairly confident that much is correct.. my foot is currently in my mouth lol.. :anonymous:

Yeah, it is going in at this point regardless ha.. i need my daily driver back! My other truck decided it needs a clutch too right now. Never wouldve thought both of my toyotas would be out of commission at the same time. Especially since im fairly easy on a clutch. But murphys law holds true for me

no big deal, I'm totally perplexed about how that disk wore out like that, maybe improper free play? or maybe driving with foot on pedal?
imo if the disk was poor quality the spring assembly would grenade? @Torspd

Im also interested to hear what could cause such a premature failure. How many miles did you take it easy during the break in procedure? @TRON

fwiw I have one of those urd stage 3 set ups with about 50k on it as well, so far so good. I'm not a huge fan of urd & made my decision after advice from some well known users here. have not seen or heard anything bad until now?

Yes for the most part it would grab well when needed until recently. But honestly out of that 50k. 25k was definitely highway easy driving. So yeah do the math.

if a user constantly beat the crap out of the vehicle, 50k wouldn't really be premature?

yes! I would agree that that is a premature failure!

Yes, I absolutely took it easy for at least 500 miles for the break in period.

Here is my stock clutch for my first 55k. Even though this clutch was fine I decided to swap with the URD stage 3 when I replaced the first throwout bearing with TSB. There are many variables that could be the blame. Maybe Toyota didn’t install the clutch just right. Maybe the 2nd throwout bearing with 50k on it going bad caused it. I don’t know. I do know my clutch pedal has to be push down at least a third before it even starts to engage. And I don’t drive with my foot on the clutch pedal lol. Regardless, it’s all good. Live and learn

What I picked up a couple of years ago from a friend. Has about 600 miles on it. He upgraded to stage 3+. Debating on selling it now tho after this.

can you please post pictures of the opposite side of that disk, the pressure plate & flywheel? I'm very curious to see the surface's.

Flywheel couple days ago. It’s getting turned as we speak. The URD clutch disc and plate are at the shop. The other side of the URD clutch disc looks a lot like stock.

One thing my mechanic said after removing the tranny was the red fins on the URD pressure plate were sticking out more than normal?

looking at the original picture of the urd disk, it appears like for some reason that it was slipping to wear so much, but if the back side wasn't as worn & after looking at that flywheel, there really isn't any evidence of that much slipping. the flywheel doesn't look burnt like it would from clutch slippage.
I wonder if the pressure plate was defective?
