Engineers that will never work on what they design. I used to argue with my engineering buddies about things they were designing. Either little mods for their trucks or projects around the house. Me being a mechanic at the time would always tell them to simplify things so they worked better.

But then here I am now back in school going for mechanical engineering. Gonna be interesting when I get into higher classes and start challenging other students and teachers on their theories

They thought taking it off and labeling it "non-servicable" was a good idea. Whatever makes the dealers more money is the name of the game here.

The photo directions on the included instructions for the valve body rehaul are not necessarily user friendly. Neither is the way the valve body solenoids, and valves, set up so I could see how you got confused with some distractions.

Its fun. Allt of problem solving and when it works as intended its a great feeling. Just try to not play the business side too much.

There is a command which will shut down the UCON and then Techstream can make all the diasnostics again.

Couple questions for those of you in the know.

I have an opportunity to purchase a used TRD branded supercharger for my 4.0 with everything necessary to install (besides ecu re-flash)

What should I be looking for when picking this thing up?

Should I just re-build it before putting it in? Has receipts showing just under 60k miles.

Whats a ballpark average price these are going for? (Obviously not looking for anything exact)

I'll admit I have ALOT of reading to do, just decided to pull the trigger a week ago and havnt had time to sit down and do all of the research.

I may be in the minority, but the only way I would buy a used supercharger is if I was able to see/drive the sellers truck with the supercharger installed and running. Then have both trucks present and do the parts swapping. This is how @TacoCat sold his charger and both parties were pleased with the transaction.

There’s always this bolt or that bracket missing. That hose that got lost. That funny noise that wasn’t disclosed. Etc etc. Then you have your truck torn apart and realize a piece is missing and have to scramble to find a new one or just jerry rig it or you end up having to buy a whole new fit kit to get all the parts you need. Too much potential hassle, IMO.

Here are the pictures he sent me.. see any stuff missing? If so I can ask to make sure he has it somewhere.

I understand why some people wouldnt buy a used supercharger without seeing it in action. In my particular situation the potential pros outweigh the potential cons, just looking for proper protocol for this unique situation. Thank you :)

Did it come from a wrecked vehicle? I ask as normally they keep the injectors on the vehicle as the ecu is flashed for them and they can continue to operate the vehicle and/or sell it. Also is it local to you or would it be shipped?

Not wrecked, owner is selling truck and looking to re-coup money, I am actually driving to Arizona from Nevada to pickup a Habitat (~350lb camper shell) and this is on the way, and figure I could use the extra power for the extra weight.
