Quality tools make all the difference. I had ‘forged’ Chinese made pullers explode on me, multiple times, trying to remove the pulley and failing. I finally bought a made in the USA Forged Craftsman puller rated at 5 tons. It pulled the pulley off like it was child’s play with no deflection in the tool. You can see my experience here:

Samesies. I always try to buy the biggest shit. Like if the pulley says "a 2 ton pulley puller will work" I'll go find a 4 ton or 6 ton. Jack stands, 6 ton (upgrading to 12 ton soon for higher length/strength because long travel). These days I'd rather spend the extra money on something I know won't break, than cheap out and risk wasting that "saved" cash and having to buy another one
    Learned that lesson enough times.

If I did it over again I would drill and tap holes so u could use a steering wheel puller.

It will work, but the only difference is in the pulley ribs. Most M90's take a 6 rib pulley while the Cavalier/ Sunfire one has our 5 rib design.

for those tuned in following the starting issue with the truck: got the battery tested and proved to be a bad battery (assuming I can trust the Advance Auto parts store and the tester they have).

Gonna try and dig out the receipt for the Interstate battery since I bought it back in March '18 and HOPEFULLY can do a 1 for 1 swap under warranty. If not, then I will continue honing my search for a new battery to buy. I am tired of wasting money :annoyed:

    @Roostfactor @o0opackersfano0o @12TRDTacoma

Looking back on this discussion from October about MAF readings on the TRD tune, I think Roost is on to something here.
My max MAF on TRD tune was 321.8 on the Torque app and about 322 on the OVTUNE handheld real-time data (real-time data for TRD tune viewed on the handheld).
This weekend, I swapped out my 2.5" TRD catback for a 3" banks exhaust and neither of the readings changed. Also cleaned my dirty AFE dry filter. Expected to see some kind of improvement, but still can't top 322.
@12TRDTacoma you recently said you have MAF readings around 322 on a 2.3 pulley, correct? O0opackersfano0o was limited to 322.
I think Roostfactor is correct and the tables in the TRD tune are limited to 322 or so.

Has anyone with a TRD tune topped 322 MAF g/s?

So maybe some minor variances in sensor readings or what's being picked up in the datalogging, but the max MAF limits are still very similar.

Seems to be. I don’t. I what ucon does to change that. I feel like it’s more the sensor maxing out but it can’t be if others are getting a higher reading using the same maf

Right, that's where I tend to agree with @Roostfactor 's theory that the ECU/TRD tune is limiting what we see in our logs. The sensor likely can read higher than 322-323

So the software top out appears to be 322 gm/ s apparently, but us who are hitting that limit are not being limited to that amount of power. As even after hitting that I feel the evident strength of pull as I continue to climb in RPM. So we must be hitting over 380 crank HP without a doubt.

Agreed. By installing a larger exhaust this weekend, my butt dyno feels a definite increase in power, but no change in max MAF readout.

I remember OVTune saying how much larger and better the TRD sc tune was over stock na tune. Not that the tune itself was better but the trd sc tune had much more expansion to the map from which he can tune from.
It sounds like you guys might be hitting the top end of the TRD tunes map.

The good news is it sounds like OVTune is planning on developing even larger maps so maybe he can address this and the fuel injector issue.
I was hoping to get some incremental MAF comparisons when upgrading the exhaust and then adding your ypipe. Still plan to do another dyno after all those upgrades, but won't have a baseline dyno to compare each mod.

Maybe one of the UCON guys can do before/after MAF comparisons for your ypipe

Gotcha. Why couldn't you order the M90 quickchange and then just get some 5 rib pulleys from the m45 or something. I imagine the bolt ins should match up, just different shaft widths. Just wondering if you still have to shave the shaft way down for the m90 or not.

I already have the pre pipe data log on my UCON at 354g/s. Just waiting on the hardware for the followup. I've been wanting to take advantage of local dyno days. Hopefully I can get a pre and post in....We'll see.

Because there is literally zero point in doing so. The hub is the exact same, and the shafts are both the same specs. The M90 one is no more heavy duty or more special than the M45 one, as their hubs are both billet, as are the pulleys. So you would just be doing double the work by buying twice unless you are wanting to buy a pulley size which is outside the normal offerings Pulleyboys or Smoothflow has in their kits.

    This! We need some answers!
