    A little of this and a little of that
    I know ceramic bearings are used in the higher end space for the sportbike crew in things like BST carbon fiber wheels. I know I was eyeballing ceramic bearings when I was in the market for BSTs. Granted, in those applications the bearings don't see much dirt/mud due to the bikes being on a track, so the longevity is not questioned. Ceramic bearings could work but for now long? I'm no expert but I would bet if some mud got into a ceramic bearing it would self destruct after a little bit. If someone offered a manufacturer "sealed" ceramic bearing instead of the loose washer type seals, maybe that could work?

    Crazy how much more these bearings cost now than just 5 years ago. I’m not sure exactly, but I got a combination of microblue and new nsk bearings when installing all my nst pulleys. By all means, Nsk is a great bearing too. The type of grease you pack them with is just as important. :thumbsup:

    Click the link above. You can select your retainer, seal, lubricant, and bearing material.....Not saying I'm going to buy these, but they sure are pretty.

    Edit: AND they're assembled here in California, not a foreign factory. (I know some may consider California Foreign, but It's almost domestic)

    In all seriousness, I'm leaning towards the original NSK bearings... If I can find them. I've found some SKF's that look like they're good for the rpm. There's a lot of options in the 6303 chassis. Need to find some that are at a minimum ABEC 3 classification, and have reinforced or good PTFE/PEEK retainers so they will be good for 20,000 rpms. The NSK's would make things easier, if I can find them. If anyone is looking for them, the best search is to look for alternator bearings, they usually have the specifications required. I found some NAPA ones, but they are almost $50....makes me think seriously about ceramics.

    Holy shit. So first of all, I wish the wife had listened to me, her dealer told her she needed like $3000 worth of work on her car. 1) rear leaking shock, I cleaned up the shock and underbelly around it, 2 months later not a lick of oil and shock performs just fine. I literally think they sprayed oil around the shock just to get her to replace it. 2) Drive belt needs replacement, ok, I can do that. Couldn't get a super good look at it, but it just looked a little faded....just now pulled it off, it still looks brand new, no cracking whatsoever, doesn't looked stretched or anything. and that was the hardest fucking belt I've ever pulled. Theres about 1 1/2" of space between the lower pulleys and the sheet metal wheel well. Can you guys guess what socket I lost removed some surrounding equipment. Here's a hint, its the same one we've all lost hundreds of on our trucks lol. They also said Timing cover was leaking, I found a little oil residue around it, cleaned it up, haven't seen a leak yet. They wanted $180 for a replacement aux input on her stereo about $200 in labor, I got it for $40 on Amazon, took me about 20 minutes to replace it.

    Looking at her paperwork, they listed the drive belt as in the red, needing immediate replacement, like "engine failure imminent" type of warning. This seems like a clear case of the dude trying to make some money and putting a bunch of shit on that didn't need it and hoping the clueless woman would just pull the trigger. Thankfully the wife brings all that shit to me.


    TLDR; Fuckin dealerships, man.

    My wife shopped around for her Acura. She went to one dealer where the salesman called her “little lady” and that was the end of that. Dealer where she ended up has been really good to deal with. It’s too bad that lots of dealers want to screw you.

    Yeah I've been burned at to many other dealers as well. I never trust them. She was freaking out about the belt, so I ordered a new one and was all set to replace it, got it out and realized it was perfectly fine. All the rest of the shit looks like bullshit.

    Yes, auto service parasites aim for easy targets. Couple years ago I was (showed) my diff fluid was in horrid shape and needed immediate service. They didnt know I did it the previous week. Their fake sample and lies lost my buisness.

    Long Story short, Toyota of Orange burned me big time, luckily I found an honest tech working for a shit service guy. Dropped the truck off for spark plugs/oil change/ filter cleaning (they specified they could clean my then K&N). Went on a trip up here to visit family, got up here and realized my filter was still coated from the desert the week prior. Pulled the plugs and they looked like shit still. Went back and asked for the service manager, he swore up and down they did it, then I asked for the tech who did it and he pulled me aside and told me they didn't touch it at all. So I pulled the filter and a spark plug in the parking lot and asked the service manager if that looked like something that had gotten serviced a week prior. He shut up immediately and they did it all on the spot. Still never going back. Only reason I didn't just leave was my other Dealer in San Diego told me the OC dealer had already used the coupons for the free services so I was SOL unless they did it.

    It's all about finding the right tech to do the work. Unfortunately dealerships rarely have the guys for it. I doubt dealers take any better care of their techs than customers.
