My vote is still Ucon. I know I am not in the majority but it runs so much better than the TRD tune for me. Again, for me.

Don't jinx me! Lol. It has done great so far. But I am not Uber tiny pulley guy and most use the power to tow. My truck itself is 5800lbs and has the aerodynamics of a brick.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
You gotta want it!! On another note, as OV Tune will probably not produce much more for 2nd Gen after the SC V2 tune, does the IO Tech software allow you to turn off code and delete stuff like SAI?

I think the 05-08 seem to work better with the UCON too. Most complains seem to come from the newer years. My 06 doesn’t have any issue with the UCON either

I never really thought I’d take the Tacoma to where it is now. Once I did the fpr mod and saw what a little extra pressure did to the afr’s I could see more air being the answer. That’s when shit started happening. 70 mm TB, headers, Vibrant cats, and 2.5” pulley. Now I’m stepping back and saying I need a little better control of this fuel. Bigger pump and injectors seem logical with no fpr. Will the TRD tune play with that? Im not sure. Icon will, but then I need another ecu. OV and/or iOTech start looking interesting. Will OV handle greater than 322g/s? Can I keep my fpr mod and fuel pump/injector setup and get there with OV?

I got tons of check engine lights on the UCON. The good part is that they were benign and didn't put the truck into limp mode or anything. They always went away on their own.

I have also had this happen when running the TRD tune with a 2.6. It would throw the p0103 after a long WOT pull. I never had a CEL, or if i did i never noticed it because as soon as it threw the code, i would clear it. Drivability was unaffected for me.

My UCon has been playing nice lately. Truck has been impressing me. It wasnt happy when i put 61lb injectors in it though. Now that i have the 455s back in, all is well

Seems to be a fine balance on injectors. Is there a size between the two?

Not that im aware of. The 61lb injectors are kind of the "middle ones" as the next step up is 80lb'ers

Wonder if a machine shop could (callibrate) our 455's?

I'm not either. Just curious if like cylinder boring things could be slightly enlarged.

Im thinking anything that would increase their flow abilities would require some type of a different tune.. If it was possible to do that would be an appealing option.

Those of you who are running the URD TCAI, how often are you replacing the filter? or is it considered washable?

I love you guys, but this is misinformation as a general statement. Since our plugs don't really tend to go over 50K (for me 20K at most before they are toast) you could gap these Iridium plugs all you want, however, you NEVER gap Iridiums in general because when doing so you are scraping away the Iridium coating off the tip of the electrode, and so you have essentially turned your super fancy, long lasting, expensive plugs into nothing better than 30K copper plugs.

They will not last you anywhere near as long as they are designed to. They may not even fire as hot as coppers do unless they are copper core Iridium's, so they are double useless.

Mine is 50/50 split. Sometimes I notice a stumble during my run, I look over past my gauges and sure enough, see the check engine and traction light on. Scan it and sure enough P0103 like I expected. Traction control program is disabled by the ECM due to the perceived poor running condition reported. This happens for any check engine light triggered event as the ECM is programmed to do so and is normal for Toyota specific models.

Sometimes after the check engine light I experience poor drivability and stumbling for anything past vacuum, and other times I experience absolutely nothing. Either way I clear the light and just keep on keeping on. If the condition persists but there is no check engine light on, that is my indicator that the MAF has gone defective and needs replacing. Usually the AFR will go up a few points at initial throttle into boost if the MAF is defective then will heavily spike rich throughout the RPM range as most modern MAF's are programmed to fail rich as a default as well once defective.

Based on the mods many of us are running or (SHOULD BE AND) are not, we should ALL be running a larger fuel pump as the stock pump may be able to keep up with pressure but not deliver the proper volume requirement needed when in boost.

As far as I know the injector size cannot be upgraded for some reason. Part of me thinks that's a BS cop out but I am not willing to experiment with rolling that dice because that is extra work on the truck I'm not willing to commit to if it does not work out.

What you guys are asking and talking about is called "reflowing injectors" it is a doable thing but that is still a moot mod if the ECM for the TRD tune is not willing to accept large injectors. The TRD 455cc injectors are not electrically specific to our ECM's exclusively as they do not have any sort of integrated ID or unique resistor built into them or anything like most modern day ECM's and air fuel ratio sensors do.

It's considered washable. Well mine is at least. I just run the K&N air filter cleaner spray on it, wash it, let it dry then toss it back on without adding any filter oil to it.
