    They did not resurface properly (or at all) or they followed an incorrect torque sequence on the cylinder head or did not torque the head bolts to the correct multi pass specification. The bolts themselves will not be an issue even if re-used.

    Bummer man. It's too bad that happened to you, but I don't blame you. It's a lot of work to do both a head gasket, as well as a main shaft bearing or an entire bearing set. If LS is more cost effective, do it. The tech is so commonplace that finding parts for it will quite literally never be an issue.

    I'm running the URD spec u headers and y-pipe, then the TRD cat back. I had to add a resonator due to the rasp... but the power gains are worth the extra noise.

    When I first got my S/C put on I still had my TRD exhaust. It had a ton of rasp and that was before my headers and URD y-pipe. Adding the y-pipe and URD mark lll 3” exhaust made all the difference in the world.

    Your referring to the competition y-pipe? I’m referring to their full exhaust, from headers down, the exhaust only works with their y-pipe, as it goes directly from the headers into the muffler, the muffler is dual opening single exit. But it sounds good to me. No rasp, not loud and it’s dumped after the axle

    I paid a shop ~$500 to install mine and it was probably worth it. I bought new bolts too in case they needed them. I think I have a slight bit of cab vibration but I don't notice it. I couldn't confirm but it felt like my factory mounts were getting sloppy.

    The factory mounts for 4x4 are designed in such a way that they are meant to be in there for the life of the vehicle, which is stupid.

    Are you a 4x4 or 2WD? $500 for putting those in is well worth the cost. The polyurethane Bonzen mounts will induce some vibration, but that is due to the inherent (higher than rubber) amount of durometer of polyurethane. A little bit of vibration in "D" is a great trade off for the amount of increase in reliability you are getting over the factory units.

    4x4, I took it to a shop in Oakland but i'll bet you could find similar or cheaper further out in East Bay. the biggest time i notice is when no one is in passenger seat sometimes the headrest vibrates at idle but not noticeable while driving. definitely worth it. not a lot of miles but after 2 years no issues so i'd confirm the recommendation above on the Bonzen mounts!!!

    See I did my power steering rack the same day so maybe I was just exhausted as a whole from all the BS. I'd probably say total time for both was about 10 hours.

    Good stuff. That's why I was saying the TRD tunes table probably maxes out at 322 g/s. Fortunately with fpr mod it seems to keep increasing fuel on our trucks.
    The UCON must have larger internal map tables which would explain why we can read higher than 322.

    Very cool explanation, thanks for sharing. So it seems us higher boost TRD guys will need to use one of those 4 options to get a complete custom tune. I'd like to know what the pros/cons are for tuning with MAP vs MAF
