I always do it in October or November before our first snow hits. My initial application I used 5 or 6 cans. Every year since 3 cans does the trick.

Well this pulley took the wrath of a ceased bearing today. It’s no fun driving NA  FYI All you 2.5 pulleys and lower: may wanna regrease or swap out new bearings every 50k regardless microblue or nsk.

I have the roush, a 69.5" belt, a 2.6 and the stock fan clutch. I have to loosen all four of the fan bolts and then get shake it loose so it will move forward far enough for me to get my ratchet into the tensioner. I might be able to avoid this with a breaker bar, but it hasnt bothered me much thus far. Something to be aware of though, its definitely a tight fit

I got a black one. I bought it from a guy with a 3rd gen. All I needed to get was the rear straight bar for above the tailgate (3rd gen uses a curved bar) and the 2 brackets. So softtopper claims everything is the same between the tops for 2nd and 3rd gens....except for what I just explained. The tops fit different though....in a nut shell.......the 3rd gen top looks sleeker on a 2nd gen than if you ordered a 2nd gen top for a 2nd gen. There is a couple threads on this.....

Very nice, youre gonna dig it. Yess i agree! I think the 3rd gen one is a little shorter and it fits the 2nd gen cab better. Sits just below it instead of a little bit above it.. im glad thats the way mine was when i bought it. I think im about to get black wheels so i might be looking for someone with a nice black one to trade:spy:

Is there any info in this thread on regreasing pulleys? I never knew it was a thing. Sounds like 50 k is a short life. Must be the multiplied stress of small pulley life.

Technically you could regrease aka pack the existing bearings again. I say “again” cause you gotta grease new bearings as well.

I was trying to think back on my SC pulley size to miles today. It’s been a minute. I know I have at least 60k on my 2.55 and NST Kit though.

Is a press required to change bearings?

Nah you don’t have to use a press for swapping out bearings on pulleys. They come out pretty easy with a hammer and proper size socket.

Then again a press does make things easier:thumbsup:

Aren't you using no longer stock bearings on your pulleys because of the NST kit though?

Does any grease packing setup at an autoparts store work?

Standard hi temp grease will work. If it's black in color and thick you are good to go.

That’s the part that frustrates me. You think you’re all good to go upgrading on parts and then this happens. All the other pulleys spin nice and smooth. I don’t know why this one bearing died so quick. I think the main pulleys to worry about are the pulleys on the tensioner though

I got an email from urd today. Apparently they can make even a trd flashed 15' work with the ucon. So, no need for and unflashed ecu.
