Wow that thing’s beefy! Compared to the where / how the Magnum relocates it it def does look out of place. All in the name of more flow though, it’s a good cause.

Wonder if theres a way to get that filter on a URD CAI. I like the thought of extra filter element. Can you get a pic of where it attaches?

The filter attaches to that pipe you see from air box to throttle body. It's an oval shape. I dont think it would attach to the URD CAI...

Yeah just looked up the filter. Would have to make an adapter from round pipe to oval fitting like that.

I do like how it's open on the top; where the air from the wheel well hits it. Puts the air right into the filter without having to tumble around. AFE might be on to something here....

    My shit is all stock.
So, How impossible would it be to convince AFE to make us a batch of connector tubes that taper more gradually? We can increase the MAF section to a larger diameter and also the throttle body end to work with the 76mm unit.

Super sized AFE Momentum GT+ group buy anyone?

I've been working on getting parts together to mate the 76mm TB to the stage II AFE airbox. All while upping the intake size to tundra specs. It'll be a 4" -> 3.5" coupler off the airbox, then 3.5" all the way to the TB. Should have it put together this weekend for testing. I bet it would beat the momentum in airflow just due to tubing size plus cost saving for those currently running a stage II that have a way to recalibrate the MAF tables.

Pretty much what I’m saying. Just spitballing here. But, if say 20-30 guys ponied up and told AFE that they want to buy this new intake system. But... we’d like the tube made to our specs.

Like the injector deal we just did...

Anybody have an in at afe?

I keep getting this fluid on my supercharger. At first I thought it was coolant (had a bad seal on the pump and a mess of coolant just below it a couple of months ago). Now on another long road trip and some of this mysterious fluid shows up again. Coolant and engine oil levels are good. All bolts are on pretty tight. S/C installed about 30k ago. What do you guys think. It was pretty clean before my trip. Im in the desert and haven’t seen a drop of rain. Am I super paranoid? What do you guys think? I wouldn’t say you are paranoid as that indeed does look to be some type of oily residue. I wonder if your intercooler seal to the supercharger housing is bad? If you don’t have a catch can it I would guess that possibly be the oil blow by making it’s way out through the seal maybe, but that seems like a lot of residue for that.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I would open up the manifold and apply some RTV where the intercooler mates up to the coolant intake and output hoses. The orange foam sealant forces the air through the intercooler, but my intercooler had some RTV to help seal it up. I wouldn't be paranoid about it, but the mess would bother me. You should not have coolant throughout the inside of the manifold or much of any residue with an oil catch can. My oil catch can had over a cup of oil in it for a period of 5000 miles.

Ok well...not right now, but soon, I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna swap in a Ford 9" on the back. Or a Tundra axle. Undecided on that yet. But I'm done spending money on Tacoma diffs at this point. Decided this morning I'm running this diff til it grenades and then calling up a fab guy to burn in a new axle for me.

Also gonna regear to 4.10 and either rock 33s or 34s. But I don't wanna deal with 35s anymore.

Yeah, that looks like a problem that needs some attention. I see some spray markings on the cover as well....My attention is drawn to the inner cooler cover gasket. You may be able to test for leaks under vacuum by spraying carb cleaner. Also make sure you don't have a leak at the front of the engine that is being thrown around by the fan or wind. Do you see residue on the underside of the hood? If you're out in the desert, the dust will stick the most to the source of the leak, so use that to your advantage. Doesn't look significant enough for me to stop a trip, but I'd be all over upon return.

I'm going to also add, that the dried white chalky residue is coolant that is more than likely coming from your inner cooler system. While the wet residue looked like oil to me, the white chalky residue is a dead give away for coolant. And to me it looks like it is coming from the inner cooler inlet and outlet tube area. Are you low on coolant in your inner cooler closed loop system?

Intercooler leaks seem to be common with the crummy hose clamps from toyota... mine leaks, @henryp leaks... anyone else?

I don’t have leaks from the hose fittings, but i did have leaks from the reservoir lid. I’ve replaced mine (no not figgs) and haven’t had anymore issues.

Looks like the leak is coming from intake manifold. Also had engine, front diff and transmission oil changed by dealer before trip. Dip stick looks a tad high, like a fourth of a quart above the top line.
