TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Yes sir they sure did autos/manuals & prerunner/4wd both came with 4.10s

The only 4bangers that didnt come with 4.10s were the 5 lug trucks that came with 3.30s

 

Seems like A02A is what I’m looking for.

It’s crazy how 90% of the eBay sellers are advertising 4.10 ratio and they’ve all got under hood pics of a V6 or VIN stickers that say A04C. Bone heads.

 

That is crazy! For someone who doesnt know what theyre buying, that could end in a bad situation. Im not sure what the code youre looking for is, but the way i did it was just asked for the VIN# of the donor vehicle. I then plugged that into toyotaowners.com and downloaded the full factory spec sheet for what the truck comes with (which conveniently includes what type of wheels they come with as well). Then you can be 100% sure (if the truck was stock) that you have the right gears. This of course is just for if youre not able to go and look at it first. If you can do that, you can take the drain plug out, mark the ring gear and then turn the driveshaft flange by hand and count how many turns it takes for the ring gear to make a full turn. This is what i did before installing it to be 1000% sure i wasnt about to destroy my driveline

Might as well put it on the tailgate, thats what theyre gonna see.. Then theyll know theyve earned themselves a spot

 

I've considered putting the numeral 2 on the bumper. That way the guy behind me knows what place he's going to be in the race.

 

Opinions on the need for bigger injectors. I seem to remember that the TRD SC ones are adequate. I'm going to have the SC and valve cover off for the install of exhaust cam gears... already plan on new spark plugs while I'm in there, is it worth it to throw injectors in the mix as well? Plan on doing a 2.7 pulley in the near future.

 

Trd ones have a lot of room. With 1.87" pulley I'm at 85% duty on them and 60% duty on the 7th injector. I also have methanol injection though.

 

From what I've observed, the stock TRD injectors will work well with a 2.7". Getting towards the 2.5 is when they're starting to really get taxed, though I have used them on a truck with a 2.3" (@12TRDTacoma) and while the IDC's are quite high, they are working *hard*.

 

Depends on what your end goal is. With the 2.7 pulley the TRD injectors will serve you well. Really only *need* them if you go 2.5 with all the available mods and still want some headspace on the duty cycle. Or if you go turbo at some point. The nicer injectors that everyone has may also idle and control fuel a bit better, but it’s hard to think you’ll notice

Meth has always been in the plan. I'm working on supporting mods before the 2.7
Plan is exhaust cam retard gears, fuel pump, and meth before my pulley goes on a diet and loses some around the waist.

 

Those are all awesome mods.

Yeah I'd want mine 70" WMS and no leaf or shock mounts on it so I can custom mount mine.

 

I'm pretty done with Toyota diffs

 

Wondering if ECGS would take 2 8.4" diffs with ARB lockers in the for cores and knock off a grand or two off a Dana 60 lol

To be fair here I run the TRD injectors because of smog. The less I have to revert back to OE by the time I'm up for the bi- annual visual inspections the more peace of mind I have. I'm all for race trucking, but I also have to be realistic with my mods. It's very difficult to be a car enthusiast here in Commifornia.

That being said the current duty cycle on my injectors with my mods nets me no more DC than an OE NA Tacoma at WOT. The truck runs great and I couldn't be more thrilled with the way it runs thanks to the tuning wizard @JustDSM himself.

This truck will last me no more or less time than one which is lighter modded. I have all the confidence in saying that. This is the longest I have ever owned a vehicle and I have every intention of making sure it lasts me a very very long time moving forward.
