Slightly related question: has anyone come up with an alternate power source/relay for the intercooler pump?

I know it's tied to the fuel system for protective measures, but it is really annoying having it run so much anytime the key is on or when the motor is cold. I've unplugged the pump when working on the truck but don't like that method because it would really suck to forget to plug it back in.

Heck, my water pump likes to turn on at random when the truck is off and won't shut off unless I cycle the ignition. No idea why that's happening.

Your water pump is part of the main engine belt. Engine has to be turning for the engine water pump to be on. Maybe intercooler pump is culprit here?

You’re talking about the supercharger intercooler pump? You can re-wire that to a different circuit. The one that Magnuson tells you to hook to also runs the fuel tank leak detection pump, which does run randomly when the truck is off.

It’s one of the first mods I did after installing the supercharger. I was doing some other stuff to the truck and the pump just started running and I was like WTF? Oh hell no!

I've been searching for alternative circuits to use. Have any info?

Mine will randomly cycle in the dead of winter when I havent driven the truck for days. Would rather not have the extra wear on the pump

I ran a wire to inside the truck and tapped into the main harness that comes from the ignition switch. Thick black wire with red stripe.

I should do this too. drives me crazy when it randomly kicks on. sometimes for a fraction of a second.. sometimes for a little while. like this last weekend while camping with the wife in the bottom of a canyon, in the middle of the night, it woke me up and ran for a good minute or more. not fun while camping.. lol

Of you leave the truck parked for a week or two it can kill your battery if it’s already weak.

I don’t have a write up, but take the wire that runs the relay currently and run/extend it through the rubber grommet on the firewall. Remove the lower dash trim on the driver side. Find the thick harness coming from the ignition switch to the fuse box. Make a cut to the plastics sheath and dig out the heavy gauge black wire with red stripe. Tap into that and put a fuse inline for safety.

I read that the reason Magnuson tied it to the fuel diagnostics circuit that intermittently tests itself is so that the circuit tripping for a fuel issue would likely stop you from driving without an intercooler pump running. Other circuits could be tripped and kill the pump without you knowing but while still driving...thats how I interpreted it.
