He came up with a lot of high quality stuff for the xr community. That custom b&m shifter was a thing of beauty

I realize the ambient is high but, given your cooling setup, that doesn't seem right. (Not arguing your observations, mind you. Just sharing your disappointment.)

Exactly why I mentioned it. Should be more badass at cooling then it seems to be.

Did you use the URD thermostat, or have you replaced that one? Doesn't seem too far out of line considering ambient temps and grueling conditions for the tranny fluid too(I'm assuming you're auto). The URD one seems to maintain much higher temps that what I was anticipating. Can't wait to try on something different.

    Motorad 160 thermostat.

I just put on a 4454 trucool tranny cooler, which is awesome. Tranny didnt go over 195 where it definitely would have before.

How dirty are your rads? Maybe they need a good cleaning. I used some nasty shit to clean mine trying to diagnose my crappy ac.

As you can see by this pic, it really cleans aluminum good.
    D063BB61-1BF2-40E2-B7BB-BCA47AFAF799.jpg

It dropped my ac temp 2 degrees. Stuff is called Nu-Brite. It is really nasty stuff, and I don’t think it’s paint safe, but it didnt eat any of mine on my truck. On my home AC condenser it did eat the black powdercoating right off the fins, opps.

Look up nu-brite. I used a cheap $10 pump sprayer on Amazon. They do sell it in an aerosol can but I just bought 1 gallon of it. If you buy the gallon you mix 4 parts water to 1 part nu brite. Wear gloves for sure, it will irritate your skin. Once you spray it, it starts to foam up while it cleans. I rinsed it off thoroughly after 5 minutes of dwelling.

I figure since all of the extra heat exchangers in front, the cleaner they are the better flow which in theory should mean better cooling.

I did this the last time I drained my intercooler coolant to move my pump for winch. Haven’t seen any leaks. Used green.

I found a machinist that can make whipple work for our motor. @12TRDTacoma calling you to talk to him. He can make any intake conversion to make it possible . Come here when you can.

Being that you're in Phoenix, with that ambient temp, what time of day did you notice that coolant temp?

Was this on an highway in traffic?

What do you think the road temp was?

    Fan I working properly correct?

Highway, consistent speeds of 55-65mph. Around 3pm

Road temp? Pretty damn hot I bet. I dont have enough info to make an educated guess.

Fan seems to be working. Maybe Ill look up @loginfailed old posts about modifying the fan clutch or whatever it was

What kind of grill? Any other blockages of the radiator?

Got a picture of the front of your truck?

Summer temps, especially there, are really going to tax the system.

Grillcraft grill. Only thing added lately blocking it is the tranny cooler (not pictured here)

Never had an issue with my bumper before but I guess this may be a good real world example of a disadvantage with a bumper.
