damn you. This is what I get for going with a conversion kit. I would assume your is direct from Wilwood?

everyone that can fit 4runner brakes but my tacoma (or maybe anyones) fits this kit). I just cant see why the 4runner would fit but these wont.

 

oh yah and very nice! Aero6 calipers right? I picked up the -DS version for offroad and was really looking forward to the setup.

 

LOL! The car actually came with nice 6-piston Brembos in the front, but whimpy single piston brakes from a V6 Mustang in the rear. The front Brembos were available in any color you wanted, as long as it was black, and the rears weren't even painted/coated. (Pretty disappointing for Ford's flagship muscle car, at the time!) I wanted to keep 6-pistons in the front, upgrade to 4-piston in the rear, and have matching red calipers all the way around. The solution was a path similar to yours, ordering the AERO-6 and AERO-4 BBKs from Wilwood. Install was a PITA, requiring removal of the axles to swap parking brake setups, so I let a professional SVT mechanic (and fellow Shelby owner) do the work. If it makes you feel any better, he also ran into a number of "complications" that doubled the estimated install time...

 

You might be the first one in this thread to invest in brakes before the supercharger was installed. Bravo!

Too bad they aren’t working out! Hmm you say they fit FJ’s??? What are the chances they fit 16” wheels??? Asking for a friend...

 

@12TRDTacoma thanks for the troubleshooting tip. My belt ended up being the source of the chirping, not the idlers

Is the TRD Tune not already on 91? My gas cap has a sticker that says Premium Only. But I don't know the specifics on my TRD S/C install since it was done by the previous owner when they purchased the truck.

ha you will need 17" wheels to run these. the 338 rotor is too big for a 16" wheel.

 

Tune or no tune you gotta run 91 octane minimum with the supercharger. Otherwise you'll risk pre-detonation which is very bad for the engine

 

It's just not good for the long term, not only do you risk spilling oil gunk on your engine bay, but you also are opening a system designed to be closed which can create vacuum leaks by venting to the atmosphere as some engines do not like any sort of open sources at the crankcase. PCV systems were designed to work on the cars for good reason, and bypassing it can drastically change an engines overall running condition. Potentially change your fuel economy also.

Nothing is going to happen to your valve cover. Definitely not as a temporary running condition.. but there is more to the story which I have never discussed in full detail which I may never do so on here.

From my old hotrodding days I will tell you right now that this was a solution, but it was not a good solution at all.

Well technically speaking you CAN runn87 in a pinch, you can even tune with it but it is not optimal as the power will not be available as it is with 91 so you should not get on it too hard or you risk knock and predetonation.

 

I’m not running the dust shield and also using fabbed spindles. Had to add a small shim behind the ear to perfectly center caliper.
I called Wilwood a few times and they answer promptly.

 

Nice, yah I have gusseted spindles which adds some. The dust shield is thing so should not be an issue. My adapter is from RR-Racing not Wilwood so I think some factor was not taken into account. Stated it works on 4runners and i have bee running those for awhile. The guys at RR have been good at getting back to me. Just got a note they ordered some hubs to see if they need to modify the adapter or not.

Which setup did you get from Wilwood directly?
