    converted AWD, RC62f swap, Supercharged
    i did the oem caliper conversion. i used the calipers and rotors from an 07 4-runner or gx470. bolted up just fine with no issues. i think the new 4-runner brakes are slightly different in mounting. my want to double check that.

    I hate those stock 4Runner/GX brakes. Every time I see them I think of my moms GX460. Her GX460 weighs 800 lbs more than a base 4Runner. Has the same brakes as a base 4Runner.

    Pulley wrap and 2.7 are on order. Custom OVtune for 2.7 will be installed shortly after these 2 are on.

    So long as my brakes can make it through this winter, my Wilwood BBK will go on in the spring.

    Only other thing I’m debating is the rousch tensioner.....

    I can only comment on the stop-tech BBK on Tacoma 16” wheels but these were supposed to work together according to their website. My experience was that 1) I couldn’t fit the dust shields and 2) mud/rocks/pebbles would get stuck between caliper and wheels after going mudding causing some concerning small scratches on the caliper and fine lines inside the wheels. I drove around like that for 6 months then opted to get the 17” 4R TRD Pro wheels. No issues since. And it stops very very well.

    I’ve always thought with these bbk kits, Wilwood or stoptech, that 17”wheels must be used. I know for sure it’s like that with the wilwoods. Also, I do know that within the installation of the wilwoods, the dust shield must be cut and trimmed.

    Disappointing, but good to know, since it's advertised as being compatible with 16" wheels. Guess I'm sticking with @crashnburn80's less radical upgrade when my time for brakes comes.

    How much you think a loaded down armored up Tacoma weighs? If they can’t stop my moms bone stock GX with confidence then I wouldn’t have much faith in them stopping a beefed up Tacoma.

    Stopping power is dependent on the traction capabilities of the tires. You can have 6 piston brake calipers and massive 2 piece carbon rotors like the Corvette does but it'll be meaningless if you are running All Terrains/ Mud Terrains which do not have the traction capabilities of a high performance tire.

    Just putting that out there.

    Yes stopping power is only as good as the friction that is available but then when friction is there and is exacerbated by mass, dem bigg ol mudd tyres overlanders love for an example, you need more braking torque and high thermal reserve. I like to use a simplistic example of which other brand new truck implements drums? Lol

    You can make some slight moderations to 4runner dust shields if you want to pair them with the Stoptech or even Tacoma since you have the 16" version. Just needs a few cuts. Buddy saw my 4runner setup and used them with his Stoptechs (he has the 17" version)

    There are plenty of factors for sure and I agree but anything that helps ill take it. I noticed a 10% difference give or take when I put the 4runner setup on larger rotors, slightly larger piston. At least on the OR pedal was decent. Now its heavier, bigger tire, more crap etc. The Wilwood kit upgrades the caliper but keeps the OEM sized 4runner wheels which make maintenance easier. Its not a track car so the 2 piece ones will just get beat up and are expensive. I have rear conversion as well I have had sitting in the garage fora year but keep going back on whether to put it on. Since I can not upgrade the master (at least not easily) I have not put them on.

    I’ve Fred Flintstone’d the brake pedal before and still couldn’t get the tires to break loose. Dozens of oh shit moments were had.

    Yup. Tried that too. After three hours of hacking and cutting and mounting and hacking and cutting and mounting it still didn’t fit. I’ll probably try that again some time before winter hits.

    def, I wanted to keep them on for those reasons. Prob just need to cut off a good amount since those stoptechs are massive.
