Does anyone on here own the 2 wheel drive Off Road Tacoma? How do you like it/is it worth the almost 10k over the SR? Reason I ask is because I'm potentially looking at a Tacoma at some point and I really like the Off Road's look and having a locker, plus it's alot cheaper than the 4x4 OR's. I don't need 4x4 personally. Also living in FL, most OR's are the 4x2 variant.

I have a first gen (2002) Tacoma 2WD with the TRD off road package. I do like it. I live in Central California and mostly hit dirt roads in the mountains or in the desert and has done very well. The locker has helped once or twice. Just make sure you have good tired and you should be fine.

I've got one, a 16 bought in Nov 2015. I bought it mostly because it was the only one available in any reasonable distance at the time, it was the right color and I actually needed a truck in the next few weeks of when it was purchased. I'd have taken pretty much any model in the tan color. It's the first 2WD toy truck I've ever owned and was only without one for about 18 months over the last 31 years during which I had a JKUR. I've needed crawl only a couple times in my life because I spend most of my time on desert roads and just am not into rock crawling. We also don't believe in weather in my neck of the woods and avoiding mud and sand holes in the desert is not rocket science.

I just don't have an opinion on the debate because I don't need the low crawl for my driving habits. Very happy with the truck other than the transmission issues I'm having. About the only thing I'd spend more money on right now is better seating but... welcome to Toyota trucks with that bit.

If the 4x is too expensive, you're probably fine passing on it. I've been off-roading for decades, if you need crawl; you'll know it and this debate will likely never enter your mind.
