I have a set of factory Toyota 4.30 gears out of my 2017 TRDOR 6MT for sale after my 4.88/Front Locker switch. These have 3000 miles on them and are in perfect shape. Comes with everything in the pictures.

Looking for 350.00 shipped but prefer local sale in WA but may ship depending on shipping costs.

Damn, if those would fit in a 2nd gen, I'd be interested. Pretty sure they don't.

Anyone know if these can be installed in an Off Road with automatic? I reckon so, but it appears the autos came with 3.9 rear diff.

You won’t want to regear to 4.30. It’s just not worth it. I regeared to 4.88’s a couple days ago and it’s definitely the sweet spot for the 3rd gen tacoma’s. Especially if you have Automatic.

That’s kind of where I’m at. It’s so much money and hassle to do this that you would at least want to do 4.56 if they were available.

Nitro 4.88 gears $1320 for the master kit . TW vendor has them in stock rogue Offroad.
    ARB front Air Locker $920
Shops will usually charge anywhere from $1100 - $2000.

Not cheap but so worth it. I have 700lbs of additional weight and run 33 inch tires. I went from 13 mpg to 19 mpg after the regear and I got a front locker now. Best time to install the locker as shops will not charge extra since they are already in there. Also you you won’t need to change remove your needle bearing and change the bushing if you use an ARB locker.

Trying to figure this out... 4.88’s seems a little much for the factory/near factory size tire. A lot of guys with the AT have stated that 4.30’s would be the “sweet spot” and should’ve been the gearing that all the Tacoma’s were optioned with.

If you’re doing a 33”+ tires and some weight then yes 4.88’s would be beneficial but 4.88’s are a little much on a stock rig... please help me and everyone else understand your findings..

There is someone on here who is running 4.88 on stock setup and he loves it. He was stuck in between 4.56 and 4.88. He said he was happy and glad he didn’t go with 4.56. Do a search to find the 4.88 Regear Mega Thread.

3.90 is just to close to 4.30 it would be a waste of money. On Hills and even a gust of wind will still gear hunt. Also may I ask why you want to regear if you are stock? Most stock people are going with the Orange Virus ECU tune. I think that will better suit you.

Imo you’re picking the wrong venue to post your personal feelings.

If I were an owner of a TRDOR or a TRD Pro I’d jump at the opportunity to get a set of factory 4.30 gears that should’ve been in the AT’s from the beginning. I don’t know what the “Orange Virus ECU tune” is but a gear change is a real change even coming from a 3.90 gear ratio. Changing the ECU tune is a neat trick but it’s no match for a real ratio change.

If your statement is true on going from the 3.90-4.30 being pointless then why would 4.88’s make a difference in my MT if a had the 4.30’s? When my rig was stock it was the perfect balance and I would never run 4.88’s in a near stock application.

I posted these for someone wanting a real set of 4.30’s that came from Toyota, heck maybe Toyota will install these and warranty them for you being that they’re a factory part?

I get that you’re on the 4.88’s or nothing soap box (I enjoy mine and in my case they’re perfect) but maybe choose a different venue other than someone’s for sale ad where you can spread your beliefs?

"one person on here likes his 4.88, and without the experience of the alternative, confirmed his decision based probably on buyers remorse. read a 170 page thread if you don't believe me. A small zephyr will slow your truck down to a baby crawl unless you use 4.88 gears. you should have your engine computer modified."
