Hi guys! I am about to purchase my first pickup truck, and I want to do some off-road trips and camping. I am comparing the TRD Off-road factory kit available this year and TRD Pro with fox shocks.

I am a car rookie, so not planning to add the suspension by myself in the near future, but I will make some modifications (like a roof rack or something) to make my truck more comfortable for camping. Price is not a big concern here because both choices are under my budget. But feel free to comment about cost comparison.

Suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Did you buy a truck yet? If not, I would suggest you test drive both setups. Maybe even drive another brand truck or 2. My 2021 Tacoma Pro has been disappointing when it comes to drive-ability.

What has it left to be desired? Genuinely curious, not trying to stir the pot

Id also like to hear this. Did your fuel door break to? Drum brakes giving you the blues?

3 alignments deep and truck is in the shop now. Toyota is trying to figure out the problem. Something in the front end is off. Suspension, alignment, steering???

If you’re new to trucks all together, either one will most likely do anything you want or take you wherever you want to go.

    Yeah.
Sounds like something up front is certainly defective. I just replaced a steering boot (stick went through it) and took it for an alignment afterwards. Only thing off was toe, which I knew would be off due to the repair, everything else was spot-on. I wouldn't say I "wheel hard," but I do use the truck to get to tough places. Hope you get your issues worked out.

OP, as others have said, see if you can test drive your options first. If you don't plan on doing a lot of off-roading, the OEM suspension or lift kit should do you fine. The Fox has the advantage if you are doing offroading, especially longer high-speed runs on rougher terrain.
