I agree. Go with HD Dakars in the rear for the extra weight of the bumper.

Kings for the win, I can't wait until Spring to put all my shit on. Also got the new Delta Joint ICON UCA's, and Fluid Film is amazing stuff as this frame is 4 years old now in the Salt Belt of Saltachusetts. And next week these beasty monsters go on, I currently have OME 887's up front with 5100's and in the rear I have an ICON 3 Leaf Progressive AAL with ICON 2.0 Shocks. Ride is nice but I said screw it on Black Friday and bought a bunch of stuff.

I had HD, then took the 3rd leaf from the top out since I rarely run more than 300lbs.

Running ADS now in the front, still OME rears. Rides nice, but putting ADS in the rear next week

Kings are awesome! Thinking I will keep it stock and save/wait for a mid-travel King set- up.

Just watched a great vid by Filthy MS about Kings

I like the ride with my MD pack but I am only 23" hub to fender in the rear with maybe 200lbs. So I usually recommend the HD to anyone planning on any weight.

I received a + and a 0 pack so I put the + on the fuel tank side.

i have that OME kit. good fit, and i did not notice anything crazy drivability wise. i have a front bumper being built, that was my main reason for getting it.

Stiffer than stock for sure but not so bad that passengers really notice. They'll all be stiffer on road. On road ride is improved since there's less lean and dive. Ive only been on fireroads as far as off pavement since switching to OME and it has defintely improved. So far im pleased, it's a fair compromise suspension for price/performance and unlike the kings mentioned are relatively maintenance free.

    Is that Portsmouth Island?

Back on topic, I have the OME heavy set up because I planned on adding alot of weight. And then that never happened. It's a pretty rough ride without the weight. Point of the story, don"t do what I did.

Yep Portsmouth. You are right about pulling the trigger on mounting a heavy duty setup before your ready. I've done all the work myself so it wasn't an issue (only had two free oil changes when it was new and got sick of sitting at a dealer)but yeah if your paying for it that would blow. I bought different front springs and backed off the rear until I was ready. But I'm there now.

I'm considering the same kind of lift... Torn between 5100s with 888s and some kind of leaf pack in the rear, the OME kit with OME shocks, 6112s set up or the Eibach kit. I watched that whole video on the Kings... It's very convincing, BUT after reflecting on it, just seems like serious overkill for what I would use the truck for... perhaps if I lived in the desert or raced off road... but for a recreational truck used for hunting, camping, and some mild off-roading... dunno...

I'd really like some more feed back on the differences between the OME kit referenced in this thread, the 5100s, 6112s/5160s, and the Eibach kit...

For me I knew that I wouldn't be blasting across the desert in a long travel setup. Ome kit was plenty for me . I'm not knocking people who buy it by any means but I'm a more crawl oriented person that doesn't blast across anything with a current gen anything . It was more about supporting the weight of my build and the occupants ( wife ,two sons and I) . It was more important to make it there then break it there. Plus external bypass have more maintenance involved due to rebuilding intervals . This may be unpopular here but for most it seems like wheelhouse candy .It's better suited for rail buggies or frequent desert builds/ trophy trucks.

Questions for ya: which front spring set up did you choose? Seems you ran two different front springs? Also, how much weight are carrying in the back with what kinds of springs and what was the result? I'm planning on carrying about 150-200 lbs. in the back on a regular basis (60-90 aluminum dog box and 1-2 dogs).

887 springs up front, unsure if the shocks are 90021 (betting these) or 90000 and the medium Dakar pack in the back. I went ahead and did total chaos UCAs as well while the truck was getting worked on.

not sure in the fronts but they are heavy duties (the stiffest) and full dakars on the rear. I would not go for the heavier setup unless you need it . I have full armor all around with approximately 280-300 up front and loaded down 600ish in the rear.

I had the stiff springs with no added weight at first due to lead times on armor . After arriving I went back.

My first gen with OME was a very good ride. Greasable packs and shackles. Never felt too stiff but ran on 15’ wheels and 33x12.5’s

I wouldn’t hesitate to run the more expensive setups, but the OME ones are meant for loadingmup camping gear and equipment and going places. Hitting speed bumps at 50 mph tends to break shit we carry.

Been reading as much as I can about all options and thought about what my real needs are going to be.

My original thought was the OME Medium kit. Get a bit of ground clearance, Be able to handle a bit of added weight but still be a good daily ride.
Then got caught up looking at and drooling over all the high dollar builds and kits..

I would do a lot of research on sellers. I forget who supplied my suspension in 2002 but it was 650 for everything back then. Geeze thst’s beyond inflation.
