In the OR you get a locker, slightly nicer interior, power supply in the bed, alloy wheels, and some economy version Bilsteins, for the extra money. Probably will be worth it when it's time to trade or sell. I thought I got good resale on my last truck because it was a TRD off road.

Wait you can't forget the compass and temp gauges, along with the sun glasses holder, and the decal on the bed. ;)

In California the TRD Off Road is about 1600 more than the SR5 which is considered standard package. Unless you are looking for a base bare bones model.

If you're gonna really wheel it get the 09 TRD OR. I went through the same decision getting my new truck. The TRD OR goodies are well worth the price and in some cases it's the only way you can get'em.

The toyota elocker is great and covered under warranty. ATRAC is the closest thing you can get to front and rear lockers from the factory and in some cases I'd say it's better. DAC and HAC are nifty. Comfy seats are well worth it. TRD bed plug is awesome. I've used it to run power tools, computers, air mattresses, there was a whole thread on it. The BFGs are way better than the POS Bridgestones they like to put on shit.

If you can drive the factory TRD OR has PLENTY of equipment to get you where you need to go and separate it from the SR5 or the Sport. I love how people think the only difference between the TRD packages is a damn hood scoop. I've owned both. Off the pavement it's totally different.

I have a 2009 DC TRD. I really like the seats and outlet. I sold a 2003 Prerunner (not TRD) and everyone asked if it had it. For resale its a good idea.

Also you get nice TRD decal on the side of the bed:rolleyes:

    Rain Visors,
Well I've been looking around. The TRD OR might be the way to go now,
    1. I didnt realize it was only 1800 more then the SR5 package. I have had bare bones trucks before and this time i want all the power I can get.
    2. Checking on KBB and ebay it does help the resale, significantly
    3. If I got the tires, new rims, and Real blisteins aftermarket it would run me just under 1400. So for the extra 400 I will have a factory covered locker I will probably never use but hey its there.

    4. Color, really don't care. I like the silver, and white but I'll see what they have. My current ride is on ebay now, and as soon as it goes, ill have the down payment to get a new one,

    5. Also excited because i went back and forth on here for weeks decided about the AC vs DC and everyone said the car seat in the back of an AC is hard...I met a guy walking his dog this morning with an 07 AC TRD sport. And his AC is plenty big for my sheppard or the car seat when i need it in there.

    6. So just doing all the money stuff, then ill start shopping...

I think you are making the right choice. Especially if you are financing it shouldn't mre much more per month.

    1. For 1800 more I would get it. Aftermarket Lockers are 1500 and not as good as the Toy Locker which is electronic, ARB are Air Lockers.

    2. Resale, is better on TRD for sure

    3. You will be pretty capable with a stock TRD from what I heard and when you drive it stock and get tired of it...start with the upgrades then. It should give you a good comparison when you get new upgrades.

    4. White is my color choice but you can't go wrong with silver. All of my cars have been silver and the easiest to clean.

    5. Remember that if you are getting an 09 AC, it has a different back seat than the 07 AC. If you have children or expecting. I would take the car seat to the dealer and install it, I would hate for you to say "I wish I had the gotten the DC". It would be safer for children in the DC I would think.

    6. Best of luck to you and please post pictures when you get it.

I love my 09 trd off road dbl cab. The scumbag dealer tried to talk me out of buying it cuz they didn't have any. Hes on the phone like are you really gonna take this truck off road and the off road dosen't have the hood scoop. So we fought and 3mo later it was there.(I bitched and cried everyday on TW) but when it got to the dealer the sales guy was blown away he hadn't seen one before.
O and dont forget the BHLM is all ready done on the ors.

I was in the hood scoop fancy for many of weeks and took the sport dbl cab out and also the Sr5 model.

First of all the offroad dbl cab 4X4 drives and handles the road and offroad much better than both sport and reg sr5 model.

Really liked the look of the hood scoop on the truck but i'll take overall performance than looks anytime! :burnrubber:

    just my 2 cents.....

One thing to remember about car seats and access cabs...legs get longer quickly. I made sure our car seat would fit both rear and forward facing in my 04 AC. It did but the front seat had to be forward the entire way. Fine, we only took the truck if it was just me and the little one. Took the wifes car if we were all going.

Well, we eventually turned the seat forward-facing but those little legs grew quickly and she would have to cross them to fit in there. I finally got fed up and bought an 09 DC - didn't want to until next year but had to.

Even now, I keep a towel on the back of the seat because her feet touch. They won't once she is in a booster but that is a couple years away. I hope she doesn't outgrow the room back there because I'm not getting another truck!

For new parents, its hard to project ahead and determine what you will need and won't need.

    Rain Visors,
Thanks for the advice. I think I will be set with the AC. My wife has a Rav4 and 99% of the time my daughter will be in her car. I just wanted the ability to take her if need be. She might be in my truck once a month. My Sheppard will spend more time back there then her.

Also I've heard about the front seat having to be pushed up, and even thats not a huge deal. Because if i have the baby it's problaby just me and her. and if my wife is with me she is tiny 5'4 and wont mind for a bit.

I just can't get a pick up with that short of a bed, esp cause every truck ive ever had, was equiped with an 8ft. bed.

Ryan post a picture of your Shepherd. I have a Malinois and she is an awesome dog. If you have the RAV4 than you are set. I like the look of the access cab myself but will go with the DC because my family has a 07 Tundra with the 8ft bed...Love it!!!

Someone mentioned the 09 AC rear is different. Im going to look for an '08 or even an '07. I looked at the new rear seats and don't like them. I like how the pre-09's you can fold the back flat. Also I'd like to find one with under 20K on the clock. I've bought a few new cars, and you loose so much I am more then happy to take a lease turn it, or a demo car. It might take me a while but I will find what I am looking for.

Just call all the local dealers and tell them what I want. see who comes back first haha

Good luck on finding a decent used. Many 1st gen owners are taking the buy-back and scooping up the used 2nd gens. It was incredibly difficult around here to find anything decent used (big rust problems and A LOT of buy backs).

My local dealer is selling brand new 2008 Tundra's marked down by $8,000. That's a hell of a deal but the truck is just too big for me.

Not to mention...the used trucks are not much cheaper than a brand new one. Resale value of the later model makes up the difference.

I almost pulled the trigger on an 08 Tundra for the simple reason it was going to be cheaper than a similiarily equipped 09 Taco. They were even going to throw on rims, tires, tint, and dealer installed leather. I just couldn't get passed the size or the looks. There were no new 08 Tacos even close to what I was looking for left in the entire southeast. Used 08 OR's were running just a little less than brand new, the few that I found anyways.

We got our used Tundra for a good price but Tacomas being more popular and not V8 gas guzzlers, the price for a used will still be high. Most people finance their cars so now that they economy is bad, people are selling their cars for what they owe...making it very close to a new 09 price. I have seen 08s for the same price of 09 around where i live. I would have to go 05-06 to justify the cost...if it is a 2000 more for a new truck...why not?

The main reason why I got the Off Road and not the Sport is because I do not like the hood scoop. I think a hood scoop belongs on a car, and hood scoops should only be added if they are functional.
