I got the premium without the tech package. Didn't want the sunroof (everyone I have ever had has always leaked eventually) and I wanted the headroom. Cloth is better in the AZ summers (can always get clazzio's if I ever change my mind) and a seat heater is not a luxury here (now a cooled seat I woulda bit on...lol) and didn't give a rip about the JBL system. Only thing I would really like from the tech pkg would be the climate control (been a long time since I've driven a vehicle without it but...oh well). Also have no need for the front camera....

In other words...tech pkg. not worth the extra 5K

For me personally, I look at what I plan to do to it down the road. Do I pay for an upgraded suspension and extra tech package only to put a lift on it and have to sell the factory stuff at a fraction of the what I was charged? Do I get the BSM and parking sensors only to ditch them when I put aftermarket bumpers on? Do Pay for leather interior when the aftermarket stuff anymore is just as nice? Do I need a sunroof that costs me valuable headroom and never gets used or would I like to wear a hat in my truck with room to spare... It's all about personal preference. The Tacoma is always going to have a higher resale regardless of the trim level I don't think you can really go wrong unless you roll a ton of negative equity in. Even then... keep it for a few years and it evens out. I lucked out and was able to find a TRDOR with no BSM, Parking sensors or sunroof but it still has the smart key and the rear locker. I was able to snag it before they (dealership) put a bunch of useless stuff like predator steps, a locking cooler/storage thing that eats up 30% of the already small bed, "dress up" pro grill package and black out emblems and overlay and other stuff that they charge $4,000 extra dollars for when it would cost you $1,000 to do yourself. So I would just say think about long term what your goal is and if you want all that stuff then don't let us fine keyboard critics influence you away from it. If you think you want a lift and different wheels and tires down the road... maybe don't go with a Pro trim level because you're wasting money and removing the stuff that makes it a "PRO". The JBL system is ok in my experience but it isn't really anything to write home about. Buy what you want, do what you want, and post pictures on the internet for everyone to put their 2 cents in regardless of what you do.

I enjoy having the extra doo-dad's. I spend almost all the time inside the truck, and all the Premium upgrades are found inside. Makes every minute that much more enjoyable, which is worth the price in the long run.

I got all the bells, whistles, heated seats, leather, sunroof, leds, tech package and I enjoy all of it every time I get in my truck. First time I have ever bought a vehicle all decked out and I'll be damned but it's pretty enjoyable.

I made my own premium package...bought a base off-road, installed Clazzio leather covers and seat heaters myself.
