2nd gen guy here helping a friend with a ‘21 TRD off-road. Pardon me if this is a silly question but I’m ignorant when it comes to 3rd gen’s.

She’s wanting to upgrade her exhaust and is looking at grabbing a TRD pro exhaust.

My brain was thinking she would already have that exhaust since she has a “TRD” off-road, but is the exhaust not part of that models package?

Just don’t want her to spend money on the same thing she has .

If that’s the case, seems like Borla is liked by y’all as a better upgrade?

    Thanks everyone!

It isn’t on my 19 and unless something changed, Toyota won’t sell it to anyone without a TRD PRO VIN. That was the case five years ago. May have changed.

it's a Tacoma not a Mustang or Camaro

I’m referring to the entire exhaust.

A TRD Pro truck comes with the TRD catback with black tip. TRD Off-Road and TRD Sport only get the catback as an option, so some trucks have it and some don’t. Most don’t.

Look at your friend’s truck. If it has either no exhaust tip or has a clamped on tip, it’s not the TRD kit. If it has a welded on chrome or black tip, it’s the TRD catback.

Anytime you buy a TRD branded "upgrade" you are promised "just the tip"

But you know what's gonna happen

I've heard many Taco exhausts. A lot do not sound great to me. The Pro and the URD Spec U sound great to me. Admittedly, I never heard the Dirty Deeds equal length setup.

Just for fun, this is a Pro on my Taco modded with an axle dump and the rear slider open:

Agreed. I just laugh when I hear a loud truck with gutless horsepower going by. How embarrassing...

Op, just drill a small hole in your exhaust, and save a ton.

Have a shop install an appropriate Flowmaster muffler on the truck. They are well regarded.
