Hopefully someone can help me out here.

I'm ordering a TRD Off-Road 4x4, DCLB, Magnetic Grey, w/ tow package from a SoCal dealer tomorrow. I was totally set on this truck until I started reading some of the articles on drive tests and how the TRD O/R tires were super loud and clunky on the highway at speed. The dealer is taking $500 refundable deposit and telling me it will take 6 -12 weeks for delivery.

Is this just super finicky reporters, or would it really be that bad? 95% of my driving is highway but I really want the capability for wheelin around the other 5%.

Anyone experienced this that runs a little more aggressive tread?

This is the tire that is coming with the TRD OR:

    TRD Off-Road
    Goodyear Wrangler® All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar® P265/70R16

Look up reviews of the tire on other vehicles.

The OEM tires are pretty poor to begin with. I wouldn't worry about it. My tires were bald at 21k miles, the truck will last a lot longer than that and you can pick up a nice quiet tire like a Michelin MS2.

Thanks gentlemen. What about towing? I have a trailer thats about 4000 lbs fully loaded. How well do you think the 16' will do?

I used to tow a 5800 lb boat with my 05 V6 TRD sport and it was a nightmare.

    nothing cool
I've avoided most 3rd gen threads so maybe this is obvious. But they're making a DCLB TRD Off-road?! Nice.

Michelin tires are the best tires I have ever owned bar none. You typically pay more, but they reward you in spades.

The stock tires on the OR are Goodyear Wranglers. Those aren't poor

I have the GY adventure w/kevlar on my 99. It's a good, solid tire. Check out the data on tire rack also.

Is this really a thread? Off-Road rated tires making noise.. Seems normal to me. Sure the '16 Sport isn't the better choice for you?
