So true but there isnt a lot of offroad mods for the frontier my buddy has one and I had an xterra offroad 4x4 before my tacoma there's tons of mods for them but overall Toyota is defianately best bet

The aftermarket for the Frontier is less than half of what is for Tacoma's.

I like the Tacoma better, and have less than favorable opinons of Nissan after my last ownership experience with them.

uuhhmmm..... you meen mazda is a ford product. actually i think ford is one of its biggest share holder which will make them the owners. so whatever mazda comes up with. ford will have the rights to it also. if you look at the mazda and ford interior. they use the same design.

dont kow why this is a poll in a tacoma forum. of course tacoma is going to be picked the most just like if it was in a frontier forum. frontier s going to be on top. but i go with tacoma all day baby.

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
As to reliability, my Tacoma has spent a lot more time in the shop than my old pathfinder. Sold my Nissan with over 200k and never had any major issues. My Tacoma has already had the front diff replaced and is growling again.
Now what I love about the taco, tons of aftermarket options and superior styling in my opinion. End of the day both company's make good trucks so either way you should be happy.

Ive never had anything but good luck with my Taco's and the 4Runner, but Ive also had nothing but good luck with my Sentra, Nissan Pickup, Xterra(although it had quite a few recalls that nissan remedied after a call to corporate), and Pathy. Both are great, this question is pointless to ask on a vehicle specific forum.

I haved loved both of my japanese vehicles the same. Just so happens Im driving a Fronty this time because it was what I wanted and the resale(projected) isnt much different than the Taco.

gotta love the frontier vs taco topics. since they are the only two mid sizers worth buying new these days (in reliability), both Japanese too.

haven't tryed off road models, but i've driven both. over all Frontier feels heavier and it shows its overall preference. plus nissans have tight turning for some stange reason. some come with sunroofs though, and the two glovebox storage is awesome, lockable tailgate (and I think glovebox too) the sunglasses storage feels nicer, e-brake is hand and not foot (i prefer) and your mirrors have lights! Nice fine touches in cabin and the drive feels tougher then the tacoma....

yet tacomas.... just better. a little less wight, more sporty and lighter in drive and looks, TALLER and tighter stance (which i love very much) double cab is way more room, hidden bed storage is super cool, so is the bed outlet for those who have it, speaking of, the sport is a nice trim version for those who like it- more trims available.....

I`m going on, yet everythings just right in a taco. The Frontier is a nice alternative, but taco is #1.

I'm only speaking of second gen btw, I would love to drive 2002-2004 DC frontiers/tacos. the frontier is special for being the only small size pickup in NA for having a long bed for its double cab. I hear they lack power and eat gas though.

Both are wonderful trucks, I had a friend who had an old late 80s nissan pickup he never sold until last year. Never a single problem.

But i do agree ^, the tacoma seems to have a taller stance which I like about it. Next time you pull up to one of the previous generation chevy silverado 1500s and you're in a prerunner/4x4 tacoma, you sit higher up than they do.

And they had shares with Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Land Rover. They still own Mazda too :D

Ford never owned Mazda. They were a large shareholder. Ford Motor Company now owns 3% down from a little over 33%.

I retract the above statement. Ford technically had controlling interest but when the economy went in the crapper they sold off 20% to free up some cash. They are now down to a little over 3% and have no involvement with Mazda except for strategic ventures.
