I’m indifferent to the scoop, but I don’t get this criticism at all. You would have to be under 4’-6” for the scoop to be a visibility concern.

They have the Exact Same MSRP so that makes the Off Road a better value for the money but it is best to buy whatever you like.

I can tell you are new here. This question is posted all the time. Every OR owner will tell you get the OR. Every Sport owner will tell you get the Sport.
I own an SR5 so guess what I recommend :)
Test drive them both and get whatever feels right. They are both great trucks. Good Luck!

The hood scoop can tend to blind some drivers if driven into the sun at certain angles. Has nothing to do with height. It’s the angles and protrusion. I would still rather have an OR without a scoop than a Sport with one. Serves no function and the rear locker does. Of course, this is just my opinion. I’m sure every other person on here feels differently.

Got it. I haven’t had that experience but that certainly makes more sense.

    Work in progress...
I got the Sport since that is the one the Ford dealer had on the lot with 15,000 miles on it. I would have bought the Off Road if I bought the truck new from Toyota. I changed the suspension and wish I had the rear locker and crawl control. It is a heck of a lot easier to add a decremental, notice I didn't say "non functional," hood scoop than it is to add rear lockers and crawl control. You know as a retired Marine that it is way better to have practical equipment and not need it than the reverse.

    Truck stuff
If you like the truck you cant go wrong with either. The Sport gives you looks(to some at least) and a stiffer suspension for the street. Some people like the looks others don't. The Offroad has a softer suspension and you will lean more in turns but I found it wasy to adjust too and liked the ride it gave with bumps and pot holes. Either model will do everything at BBNP. I have an OR but in the few trips I've made to BBNP I have never needed or used anything other than 4Hi. The locker and MTS on the OR are nice but most of the time they are not needed and I wheel my truck hard. If you dont like how soft the suspension is in the OR you could change it out with something a little stiffer or find a sport owner who installed a lift to swap over to the sport suspension for cheap. I chose the OR because I felt the extra bells and whistles for going offroad might come in handy where the hood scoop and matching fender flares/bumper would do nothing for me on my adventures.(I also like the look of black fender flares)

I'm not remotely concerned with being judged - except by the supreme one upstairs.

Great point here. If you prefer the look of the Off-Road I would get that model. You can always find the sport shocks for sale here, Craigslist or Ebay fairly cheap and swap them out.
