Through the crankcase ventilation system or even past the rings.

Sounds like a bigger problem if particles are blowing by the rings.

Well, I’m talking about the less filtered / oil soaked screen, which is not what I have.

Amazing how dirt bikes, ATV's, sand buggies, tractors, etc. run at all.

Unless your getting rid of your vehicles every few years, who would ever buy electric? After 10 years the batteries are toast, have fun paying $15k-$20k to replace it. And that's just today's prices, imagine when inflation kicks in hyper drive. :spending:

You do realize that air filters are also used on those for exactly this reason right?

Why does everything have to be an extreme? "Not run at all" , no, they run just fine, but if run in dusty environments without proper filtration they suffer increased ring wear and possible bearing wear. They run just fine, they do also wear out sooner.

Dirt bikes for one have a thick foam filter thats oiled to trap as much crap as possible. Even that, especially a 2 stroke, it will need top end rebuilding in the near future to maintain best performance. If the filter fails in some manor to trap the larger grittier particles like sand, you can kiss your crank goodbye too. It will do the same to four strokes, just takes a lot longer. When I raced motocross at southwick ma., the sand was a killer having to rebuild the top end less than every 25 hrs of use.

make you prefill these synthetic media filters. I didn't prefill mine last oil change and my truck made a horrific screeching noise on first start.

You are right, they don't last forever, nothing lasts forever. EV batteries are showing to last way longer than 10 years when made right.
