I'm here all night people. :D Just kidding I'm logging off soon. I've had the lag before as well. Only 3 times so far, and mostly when I'm making a left turn across three lanes of oncoming traffic. :annoyed:

I have a hesitation/stutter issue when accelerating, half to 3/4 throttle. It is very annoying. I really thought the transmission TSB would've fixed it, but it didn't. It is definitely not a characteristic of the Atkinson cycle engine as I have a Prius and have no problem at all with that. I am in the process of trying 93 octane fuel but want to give it a tank or two. I really want to love this truck, I really do.

Great! Driving advice... Now THAT answers my question. Silly me. Shouldn't you be in the 2nd Gen playroom?

Thank you sir! Same exact scenario that i have experienced. I'll bring it up at my 25K service and see what the fine folks at Cobb County Toyota think.

Atkinson is only ran during light load cruising. so this would not be your problem

No. Total power loss like it's starving for air or fuel.

Had this happen 3 times. Two of them going up my driveway which is a very steep hill. I attributed it to me treating the throttle like a traditional SUV/car and not punching it hard enough , nannying it. If I drive my wife's pilot the way I drive my truck I will wreck it. The SUV is just that much more responsive. Lesson learned from a 12 hour road trip. Use ECT to get on the highway or to pass. It works. If there was a way to just leave it on I would. The mileage difference is almost negligible if not slightly better with it on/depending on driving style.

Nice. Thanks. Once again, not talking about being on the freeway. This is from a dead stop but thanks for chiming in.

It doesn't help my problem from a dead stop any... but i have turned it on every time i drive for the last two tanks of fuel and went up 1 MPG of both tanks! Funny since the manual states it will lower fuel efficiency!

This might be a far reach but on the Eco cars some have been known to actually get stuck in eco. For example my dads Honda Pilot is a v6 but opens the valves on eco mode for 3 pistons eccentrically running on three pistons. My dad just had to get the head pulled and replace 3 piston rings after 50k miles... the 3 rings that shut off during eco mode. Then my dads friends actually has had his 3 three pistons not come back after it went into eco mode causing it to drive like a dog.

Your truck might be experiencing a bug when you accelerate from 1/2 to full peddle where it will not switch out of atkinson cycle. If the issue wasn't present before the TBS update might have caused another bug which is known to happen in programing. The atkinson cycle actually only performs in a very narrow range on the rpm band after that the lack of compression hinders and acceleration and/or performance.

I also get better mpg driving in 5th or with the ECT pressed. For me I work, work out, eat and etc all with in a 5 mile radius so the stop and go is not ideal for the atkinson cycle since it only performs in a limited rpm range. The atkinson cycle hinder my performance and drops my mpg quite significantly.

My sincerest apologies for coming off "a little like a jerk". Hopefully there has been no permanent damage to your safe space. Maybe i should put a trigger warning on this post for fragile souls.

There, now i am a total jerk. Mission accomplished.

Instead of apologizing and fixing his first post he just insults further. Don't worry its just his way of coping for his mistakes.

Any way you can have someone film your RPM's and speed from a stop while you press the gas down hard?

Might help others determine if theirs does the same.

Who says anyone was hurt? Did you not ask for help and did not update the first post after the 1st time you had to correct your statement? Is that not a mistake?
