That video shows that they're actually pretty bad in snow. Maybe fine in 0-5mph crawling but extrapolate what that video shows to road conditions at higher than 15mph speeds and you're pretty well screwed.

It took me the first 5 seconds I put mine on snow to know they were terrible. Same was for rain and mud conditions, just not good on slick surfaces.

They do better in snow that KO2s I've run in the past. Duratracs are superior there though they are not nearly as good for commuting (obviously).

Totally agree. I bought the KO2 hype, went from the OEM to KO2s for a winter (against the advice of several friends), gave up and went to duratracs. Happy camper now. OEM definitely better mannered on road, but for an every kind of situation tire, haven't found a situation duratracs weren't happy with so far.

They're not hakkapeliittas but they're close (except on ice :))

I think you are underestimating just how steep and slick that rock the truck is crawling up is. If you hit that at 15MPH you, and your truck, would die. Knowing the size of that feature, I'm actually pretty impressed the truck made it up in the snow, regardless of tires.

I don't think anyone will argue the Goodyear is an awesome snow tire, but it's noteworthy in its ability to do a lot of things reasonably well.

Oh no didn't want to underestimate the situation, I was just getting at that it's two different scenarios to drive on snow under 5 mph with a super computer controlling your brakes and throttle as opposed to either road driving on snow, or snow that's deeper than half an inch.

I'd say more good on the crawl control feature than good on the tires involved.

OK. I just have to check in again on the OEM Goodyear Adventure tires.

10,500 miles here. I too was very skeptical on these tires coming standard on the TRDOR. I was initially thinking I was going to have to upgrade these tires first thing as they are a very tame looking all terrain and P rated as well. But every time I put them to the test in snow and ice where they performed amazingly, and now I have driven well over 200 miles off road in the California mountains and Nevada desert and they have performed great! This also now includes one of the toughest boulder and jagged rock strewn trails (19 mile stretch) I have ever run which I did this past weekend.....where they once again have held up great. Now I did air down to 20psi for this trail, but there were terrific. I am officially going to just run these till they go bald or give up the ghost. They have earned my trust to take them back out in the middle of nowhere and feel confident that they will get me home. The only place they have let me down some is in the mud. Desert clay mud and these tires do not mix well as they are not a good self cleaning tread. But every where else they have been incredible.

Impressive OEM tire for all terrains and street driving combined (my Tacoma is my daily commuter as well).

Yep the only thing really decent in Mud is going to be a Mud terrain or hybrid such as the Duratrac.

I wonder how many people replace these tires immediately for KO2 etc and never even give them a chance?

I'm sure the majority of 3rd gen TRD OR trucks are still rolling on these GY tires, but there's a certain segment that joins TW, and then becomes convinced E-Rated K02s are the only thing that'll get them across a gravel parking lot.

I've got a big, remote, and sometimes rough trip planned for July, and I'm going to give these tires a chance. Hopefully I won't be wishing I was a 'K-bro Too'.

Well if anyone wants a set of these tires, I have 5 for sale, 13,000 miles 265/70/16. The spare has never been used. Washington DC area (Bethesda, MD). Also yes, I did like these tires, they worked well for me.

I'm still on the factory tires with ~20K miles and I can't wait to switch them out for BFGs. I carry a 2nd spare when I'm going anywhere remote. I'm now up to 5 flat repairs on mine. Over 150K miles with the BFGs on the same exact terrain, I had ZERO flats.

Thin sidewalls and very shallow tread depth just does not inspire confidence on a 4x4 vehicle. I get Totota is going for road manners and MPG's, but these tires seem a bit much.

Nobody runs all-season tires on their Corvette... it would not only look silly, it would totally castrate the vehicle's potential. I think that's a fair analogy...
