TRD OR Premium Package?

So i placed an order for a Manual DCSB TRD OR couple weeks ago, i asked for cloth seats, Premium & Tech package, and nothing else. I was just on Toyota's configurator and realize that when you select the Premium Package you are forced to select leather seats. Are you not able to get heated cloth seats?

 

You would probably have to do a special order. Have you tried calling Toyota or your dealership?

 

To get heated seats you have to get leather on 2018's

 

Toyota doesn't custom build unfortunately. Heated seats come with leather and sunroof on the 18s (unless pro). The sunroof was a deal breaker for me, do I didn't get any of it.

 

Interesting.. When i sat down with the manager and told him that i wanted cloth seats & premium package, He wrote it down on the order sheet.

 

The premium and the technology package get confused quite often. They are not the same. He probably gave you the tech package. What's the MSRP?

Oh man, you used to have to go to limited trim to get leather... Might be why he was confused. My 2017 TRDOR with premium package has cloth.

 

In 2016/2017 Tech and Premium were a combined package and had heated cloth seats, for 2018 they separated them and premium is only available with leather.

 

For 2017 Premium and Tech were a single option and available with cloth seats, for 2018 they are 2 different packages and with both it will be leather only.

 

Drove my wife's car with Toyota's hybrid leather in 100 degree heat for 30 minutes yesterday, air conditioning blasting. Sweat like crazy. Shirt looked like I just got hit with a hose on my back.

Drove my truck with cloth an hour in similar conditions later in the day, didn't have the same problem. If the leather is cooled that's one thing, if not, I don't want it.

 

Buy it we'll swap seats? I want leather!

 

Exactly why i don't want leather. But if that's the only way to get heated seats, then leather it is.

 

Make sure you aren't too tall for the sunroof. I made the mistake of waiting a couple months for the premium package truck, then realized my head was resting on the headliner at 6'1. There wasn't any sunroof trucks sitting in the lots for me to check out. Quite the surprise as I'm not overly tall.

 

Don’t spend the extra money on the premium package. You can do it all yourself and put that money towards other mods

 

That's one way to go, but it certainly is nice to just have it done from the factory (I assume when you say "do it yourself" you're talking about stereo/infotainment upgrades). I've gone this route in the past but if I have the option when buying new to just have the factory do it; that's the way I go. Of course, any type of premium package has to satisfy your expectations, and I think in the case of the JBL system in the Tacoma it does just that for probably the majority of the folks out there. Plus, the heated cloth seats are just awesome...

But perhaps it wouldn't be worth it for a 2018 model since you're stuck with leather seats now...meh...

This is accurate. I'm 6' and come close to hitting my head as well.

 

In Canada all TRD OR and Sport come with cloth and heated seats in 2018 . i think 2018 is the first year you can get leather in the sport model . Still can not get leather in the OR. Come across the boarder and get a taco then drive it back down! might save some money on the conversion also haha

 

Premium Package: Leather Seats, Sun/moon roof, dual zone A/C, JBL upgrade audio system, auto headlights

Tech Package: Rear park assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert

I dont think you can pick and chose individual items from from these packages, its all or none.

I have both packages and am very happy I got both. A lot of this should be standard IMO considering its 2018. Leather seats are so comfortable and just feel good, but I understand they are not everyone's cup of tea.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think the roof is any higher on the Tacos without the sunroof vs the ones with the sunroof. I like the sunroof because its really brightens up the interior and you dont feel as boxed in.

 

Same. I just picked up my Tacoma and i got both packages. I'm honestly loving it. Gives the car a luxurious feeling
