I wouldn't want a push button start in any vehicle. My buddy didn't really care for it either in his trd or, but to each their own. At any rate it wouldn't be enough to figure in a decision.

    @Nervouswater

My wife's 2017 Hyundai Elantra bought new was our introduction to "push button start".

    I had a key ignition with my new 2003 Honda Pilot until 2018 (16yrs). Then I bought a used 2010 Mazda CX-9.

The CX-9 had a "Push Turn Switch" which I had to replace because the plastic knob eventually broke. It required FOB key on person.

I traded the CX-9 for my 2021 Midnight Black TRD Sport DCSB/AT in May of 2021.

We've had good experiences with "Push Button Start" and I expect the same with my Tacoma.

EDIT: I would not downgrade from TRD to SR5...but it depends on your finances.

What would you lose? About 2 inches off your johnson.

THAT is why I'm keeping my TRD OR!

I'm not sure there would be any financial benefits to trading in a TRD OR at this time unless you were getting an excellent offer probably selling the TRD yourself. Usually trading in at a dealership isn't as lucrative as they want to make coin on it.
There are things like title and registration fees to consider as part of the cost too that vary by location.
I have an SR5 and don't do any serious off road driving. I don't have a lift either. I love my SR5. It has all the things I need to have and nothing that won't get used much or at all. However if I would've got a TRD I would still be as happy the extras would just not be used like some of the things my Liberty CRD limited had did not get used.
The Tacoma even in base trim had a lot of tech that vehicles 10-15 years ago didn't anyway.
I'd say just enjoy the truck you have save yourself the trouble of finding another truck for such small differences.

I don’t understand this. By the time you made the swap you’re probably losing money (taxes, fees, etc) and at best even if financially a wash you’ll have “less” truck come future value.

Having both and the price of SR5s steadily climbing to base TRD trim price I would advise to not. There’s a reason TRD allocations are swept up and SR5s sit. You will take a hit on resale though slight. You also lose some other little things.

Never buy a vehicle for what you’re doing right now. Always buy it for the opportunity and possibilities down the road. You may come across an obstacle or trail down the road where you truly say I wish o had that little bit more capability. I usually am on fire roads and some creek crossings here in Virginia. When I was in California the extra bells and whistles of the TRD OR made it totally possible to drive around in two feet of powder up by Lake Tahoe with confidence. It’s truly nice having extra functions at hand if the need arises. Most days I don’t need the extra stuff. But when it’s there it’s great knowing I have the option should I need it.

Lots of great thoughts and opinions. In the end I really have no reason to trade, sell or buy at this time and probably won't. I bought the 2020 used, 14500 miles, and will use it mildly OR. I really have enjoyed the truck so far. I'll definitely use the 4 wheel at times, just probably not the other OR features.

But they’ll be there when/if you need them, and when you trade in,,, for a higher amount.
I don’t hardly use my OR features, but if I’m going to run a nail in to a board, I’m gonna grab the biggest F’n hammer I can find,,, if you know what I mean.

Its strange, the trd outsells the sr5 here about 2-1, but doesn't retain its resale value as well as the sr5.

When I recently purchased my OR in June the SR5 was only $3500 cheaper. I paid msrp and would have paid msrp on the SR5 as well. For $3500 it was a no brainer to get a better equipped, better looking truck that would be easier to sell in the future even if I never use all the goodies the next guy might. No leather or sunroof but have pretty much everything else.

The MSRP between them is only about $1900, so just adding wheels and tires to an SR5 would already have you at the price of the TRD and you are still minus a bunch of equipment.

I highly doubt an Sr5 and lower trim has higher resale than a TRD in any market.

You got a deal then. I see prices here for SR's that even with inflation factored in, are more than I paid for my OR lol. New and used... It's crazy.

Dealers here assume trd's are beaten up more than the sr5, plus owners tend to mod them more. You might still get slightly more for the same year trd truck, and mileage, but the percentage isn't the same when you figure the overall cost into them. My buddy traded his 2019 trd with a little over 20k on the odo for a nissan. He says he got a great deal, but never mentioned once what it was. I'm assuming the nissan dealer was laughing all the way to the bank.

Agree with you. I don't know why all the OR owners are saying their trucks will have higher resale value? Why? Because you paid more to begin with for it? Quite the opposite here. SR5s are hard to find and OR/Sports are EVERYWHERE. SR5s hold their value the same if not higher than the other trims since there a fewer of them. OR/Sports are a dime a dozen.
