So i purchased a 2018 Tacoma SR and found some factory TRD OR wheels from a local seller to replace the OEM wheels.

I noticed the center caps weren't very secure when putting them on, and since then I've lost 2 on the highway. They aren't cheap so I took the 2 remaining caps off for storage.

I see that they hold by friction on the lug nuts, and my current lugs are from the SR factory wheels.

I looked online to see if the lugnut part number was different from the SR and the TRD OR and they are identical.

SO, has anyone had this issue? Is there something obvious that doesn't involve putting silicon or adhering them to the lug nuts?

Not a lot of similar issues online, unfortunately.

    Thank you

I noticed one of the center caps on my ‘18 Off Road was difficult to set flush. The mechanic who serviced my truck said the clasped portion of the center cap needed to be pressed with a flathead to flex enough to sit flush.

IIRC there is a wire retainer inside the center cap that presses outward to keep it in place.

Yes, and it pops out of the tabs easily. Also tabs bend easily. Make sure all tabs are straight, and wire retainer is in tabs correctly. Have had the same problem, once.

I replaced my OR center caps with the TRD Pro center caps and noticed that the OR’s came off very easily (literally just grabbed and pulled off gently), fortunately the Pro’s fit nice and snug!
