Did anyone NOT look to see if the hitch was on at the dealership before pulling away? I thought it was standard on the TRD packages, but boy was a I wrong.

So now I have to buy one and install it. To those that know do I need to wait for the 2016 OEM? Or is it the same as the 2nd Gen? Or do I need to say screw it and get aftermarket...

I dont pull big boats or anything much over a small trailer for a riding lawn mower. Any help is appreciated.

If you got the towing package you should have got a hitch, no ball. (under the back seat) If your dealer did not include it I would ask them to fork it up, otherwise your gonna pop for another 30-90 bucks, or so, at your favorite automotive store depending on what you get.

Or maybe your saying you did not get the tow package? drag ...

Standard hitch for the receiver, no ball....I was surprised it was stowed under the back seat. I am guessing they must be standard with the Tow Package. Maybe that's another dealer perk....resale of new hitches offered from the Parts department..No telling what the stealer charges..

Real drag, like what was said off thread, you lost more than that....tranny cooler and bigger alternator..and oh the wiring for both plug sizes. No idea what thats gonna cost you but I think your better off seeing if you can pay the dealer the $650 + tax to get the package installed.

U will have to get one aftermarket...it would cost some big $ to have Toyota do it....Ur not just missing the tow package...ur also missing the liquid cooled transmission and larger alternator! I can't imagine how much Toyota would charge for all of that

You will be fine getting an aftermarket one. If all you pull is a riding mower, the tranny cooler etc. isn't going to matter. You shouldn't be out more than about $175-$200 with ball mount included. Just look around the google (no drill is always easier). May be a couple months before there are a lot of options though.

Tow package is one of the few no-brainer options though IMO..

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
There should be engine oil cooler too.
Toyota really went cheap or maybe TRD OR is not supposed to have tow package.
