TRD Performance Exhaust

All new vehicles come with CAI. Been that way for years now. It may not look like a "performance" CAI but they are CAI's.
If it has an air tube from the thottel body to a filter box then usually into the fender well or down low in front of the motor or into a functional hood scoop it's a CAI.
Yes there may be exceptions.

 

Not much power gains but it runs smoother and sounds a lot meaner.

 

Oh, but there some difference, smoother performance, sounds better too.

 

Can you quantify "smoother performance" ?

It feels more responsive, less hesitation, it just runs smoother, hard to describe. It just feels better.

 

Love mine. Got it used so didn't pay full retail. It's got a much meaner growl. However, it's subtle, which means your friends who have MBRP/Flowmaster will think it's still stock. Most importantly, there's no drone, which is super important (to me), especially because of the gearing etc. on these trucks.
Sounds awesome under acceleration, in tunnels, at cold start, quiets down on the highway. Best of both worlds.

 

I looked at a 2019 Taco TRD Sport Access Cab this morning. I asked the salesman how much it would be to add the TRD exhaust and he quoted me $1150. I asked him to verify the parts and he said, stainless, and it includes muffler and tailpipe.
Is this correct ?

 

All I can say is the TDR exhaust in conjunction with the K&N air filter brought my rig to life.

I paid $700 for the exhaust and the TRD CAI. I installed both in an hour.

looks good. sounds good. performs like crap. but it is possibly the 'best' sounding one.

 

The exhaust is indeed stainless and includes the muffler. Bam has them for $593.

The dealer shouldn't charge more that $75 to install, or find a shop to do it. I would use that as a bargaining point. Say everything looks good on the deal except I want a TRD Cat back. If they want to sell (which they do) they should agree to that.
