So when buying parts online such as oil filters or any accessories in general the only options are base models and sr5s and pro versions of the TRD. I never see an option for the TRD off road. Is there a difference when it comes to the TRD off road and pro or are they both the same truck just different suspension? Thank you.

Only significant changes are in the shocks and rear axle/differential since the Offroads have the push button locking rear diff. Most of the other changes are cosmetic.

The pro was only an option in 2015 for the 2nd gen trucks.

Ok so basically everything as far as engine and accessories are the same just not the differential or suspension?

things like seat fabric and some interior options are different, but otherwise mostly mechanically identical. You might see a chance in the alternator size with a tow package or something.

One thing I frequently do is look into the parts breakdown on Rockauto.com and see how they differentiate the part in the notes. The Tacomas are all very similar, unlike some of the GM trucks ive worked on.

So if I go and buy anything for my TRD off road I just choose the TRD pro option?

Ah, i see you have a 2015 now. I'd stick with the regular "base" and go from there. The only Pro difference should be the front grille/hood and stickers though.

TRD Pro is a TRD Off road truck with different shocks, color matched door handles/mirros/grill surround etc. Outside of the shocks there is zero functional difference from the pro to the TRD OR.

    NOW.

The TRD OR has some functional differences over the TRD SPORT / Base sr5. Progressive wound front springs, smaller diameter sway bar, gas tank "skid plate", rear locking differentials and on 09+ models the electric boosted master cylinder to provide atrac.

But outside of that all the trucks are the same (outside of mentioned towing packages which can be found on any of them) so parts are 99.9% for the most part interchangeable.

For my TRD OR 4x4, i always just choose Base 4x4 4.0L for my parts searches.

In general yes, they are the same.

But if you'll be more specific about a part(s) you are noodling over, someone will be able to say yay or nay. There are some quirks.

IE, if it's aftermarket suspension you are looking at, it doesn't matter, as the 6 lug chassis are the same and rear leafs are the same.

Ziggy says 99.732% of the parts are the same. ;)

(Ziggy is from Quantum Leap, if you're not old enough to recall that name)

Are you referring to parts.toyota.com or some other particular site?
